All things written may be fulfilled

Ok, if I understand you correctly, your argument is really that the days of vengeance go for a period of time. They start with what is described in Luke 21, they continue without stopping until what is described in 2 Thessalonians 1.

All things written may be fulfilled

Well, we are under the new covenant right now and that never ceases. If you have a future “last day” of something else, like maybe the planet earth, then you can say we are on the planet until the last day but I wouldn’t say we are under the new covenant up-until the last day, that wouldn’t be...

All things written may be fulfilled

That’s right, unless one wants to try to make the case that Paul gave an entirely new revelation in 2 Thessalonians 1, Luke 21:22 tells us when the OT prophesied days of vengeance gets fulfilled.

All things written may be fulfilled

The New Testament never ends, it’s eternal. It would take the death of Christ a second time to change that.

All things written may be fulfilled

Alright, I’m not arguing against your position, just saying it doesn’t have all things written being fulfilled when Luke 21:22 says they will be fulfilled.

All things written may be fulfilled

You’re presenting a false premise. I never said the old covenant was valid until 70AD, only that it remained in existence and was practiced, even though it was a dead, decaying corpse. What are you thinking, that the next sabbath after the cross, the apostles went fishing and ate BLTs for...

All things written may be fulfilled

Ha ha, thanks for the humor. Let me ask you this though, do you believe in dual fulfillment?

All things written may be fulfilled

3)Just after the cross 4)The last days of the existence of the old covenant ended in 70AD when it became impossible to comply with all the physical requirements due to the destruction of the physical temple. Question for you, since the Holy Spirit said it was good to have the different...

All things written may be fulfilled

Ok, I agree but I think it was a good idea because the Jews didn’t straight way want the new covenant. Luke 5:39 No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.

All things written may be fulfilled

Ok, thanks. I had to ask because @Truth7t7 believes C like you do but doesn’t think they are the same event. At least you are consistent.

All things written may be fulfilled

What about Acts 15:28? Why would it seem good to the Holy Spirit to have different burdens instead of just burying old the corpse?

All things written may be fulfilled

What is your opinion on why Luke would say “that all things which are written may be fulfilled”? Paul writes about a future vengeance first, then several years later Luke claims For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

All things written may be fulfilled

Ok, let’s take this one question at a time, starting with point 1. The validity of the old covenant ended at the cross. My question to you is when did the old covenant vanish? And since point 2 is closely related to point one I’ll give my answer to that also. The new covenant started at the...

All things written may be fulfilled

So are the days of vengeance in Luke 21:22 the same event as the vengeance taking place in 2 Thessalonians 1:8?
  15. G

All things written may be fulfilled

So all things which are written won’t be fulfilled when the Luke 22:21 days of vengeance gets fulfilled?
  16. G

All things written may be fulfilled

Right, and preterist think Jesus returned in 70AD, which was future to 51-52AD when 2 Thessalonians was written. The end times were the end times of the old, dead, decaying covenant that vanished in 70AD. Let’s look at it like this … A) Luke 21:22 happens 70AD, 2 Thessalonians 1:8 happens...
  17. G

All things written may be fulfilled

Right, and some preterist would agree. That all got fulfilled in 70AD, just as Luke 21:22 says, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. I’m not going to argue for the preterist view here, but what you said would support that view and that both Luke 21:22 and 2 Thessalonians 1:8 are...

All things written may be fulfilled

Luke said these be the days of vengeance, and he wrote that many years after Paul wrote about a coming vengeance. Luke said that all things written may be fulfilled. Without any additional scripture to clarify this they are both talking about the same vengeance or there is a dual fulfillment...

All things written may be fulfilled

Sure, regardless of when Jerusalem is surrounded by armies and trodden by Gentiles, do you think the days of vengeance in Luke 21:22 is the same vengeance being taken in 2 Thessalonians 1:8?
  20. G

All things written may be fulfilled

Well that’s a problem I brought up in the OP, Luke seems to pull from the OT about the days of vengeance yet the days of vengeance in the OT cross references with both Luke 21:22 and 2 Thessalonians 1:8. If they are separate events of vengeance then we should be able to distinguish which OT...
