Will believers really be saved? (OSAS vs Loss of Salvation)

His statement was we can lose salvation as easily as we found it ... I agree because the answer to both is “not at all”. I did not FIND salvation. God chose me, not the other way around. Just as I could not FIND salvation, I cannot LOSE salvation. God gave the GIFT so only God can take it back.

Will believers really be saved? (OSAS vs Loss of Salvation)

You don’t have to believe me, but you might want to think about what John had to say on the subject: They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us...

Will believers really be saved? (OSAS vs Loss of Salvation)

I agree, fortunately it was a gift from God and I can no more reverse by spiritual birth than I can reverse my natural birth. Philippians 1:3-7 [NKJV] 3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the...

Will believers really be saved? (OSAS vs Loss of Salvation)

John 6:37-40 [CSB] "Everyone the Father gives me will come to me, and the one who comes to me I will never cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me. This is the will of him who sent me: that I should lose none of those he has given me...

    OSAS Question

The sound of one hand clapping.

Will believers really be saved? (OSAS vs Loss of Salvation)

Sort of. Technically, Salvation is not free. It cost a great deal. WE just did not have to pay the price because we could never have afforded it. So Jesus paid the price and GAVE it to us free of charge (except the obligation to LOVE.)

Will believers really be saved? (OSAS vs Loss of Salvation)

So Paul lied when he said “if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” since you only MAY be saved. Ultimately there are no guarantees until you die and are still believing. So where does that power to...

Will believers really be saved? (OSAS vs Loss of Salvation)

What would it take for you to stop believing that the sky is up and the ground is down? There are some things that are believed on such a fundamental level that one cannot unbelieve them, so for those truly “born from above”, they cannot stop being new creatures with a new heart and return to...

Will believers really be saved? (OSAS vs Loss of Salvation)

I have a Lutheran friend (and Paedobaptism sword-fighting partner ;) ) that likes the quote "I believe in Salvation based on Works, they are just not my works." (the implication being that it is the work of Jesus that saves). I really like Ephesians 2:1-10 and I always make sure to include all...

Where is the reformation in the Bible?

I am pretty sure that inviting someone to tell his side (Luther) and hiring people to ambush and kill him on the way is not "in good faith". Luther was a zealot who started out asking for reasonable changes and became more radical as the RCC circled the wagons to defend its corruption. It was...

Where is the reformation in the Bible?

o_O OK, so Petrine succession and the CHURCH ended in 1958 ... so what are we talking about? Thank goodness God preserved for himself a remanent in the non RCC (Eastern Orthodox and Protestants). ;)

Where is the reformation in the Bible?

... said God, NEVER. (as proven by the lack of Apostolic power).

Where is the reformation in the Bible?

 Show me any "Biblical Doctrine" not based on SCRIPTURE but on TRADITION, and explain how that can be a "biblical" doctrine. ... YOU ARE TALKING LIKE A CRAZY PERSON! Sola Scriptura is the self-evident belief that Biblical Doctrines are based on the BIBLE and not on HUMAN TRADITION or...

Where is the reformation in the Bible?

... "If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book" ... [Revelation 22:18] It is a dangerous thing to say "God says" and add things that God never said. How many people are healed by Francis' shadow to authenticate his Apostolic Authority?

Where is the reformation in the Bible?

They were not "so-called" reformers, they actually were reformers because the RCC had fallen into gross sin at the highest levels and even admitted so when it adopted MOST of the reforms the reformers were asking for. Can I still buy forgiveness from sin with cash from the RCC? How much does...

Where is the reformation in the Bible?

There was no Muslim Invasion of the Holy Land, Crusades, Discovery of the New World, US Civil War or Second Vatican Council either ... by that logic. None of those events are recorded in the Bible! Not even in the Apocrypha! (although if we canonize the Book of Mormon, we might be able to accept...

Will believers really be saved? (OSAS vs Loss of Salvation)

Yes and Amen. I got tired of all the "discussions" on OSAS built on hypothetical cases and devoid of actual scripture. I just wanted to put it out there whether people really thought that all the clear scripture were lies or truth. We can also discuss from scripture truth what is NOT TRUE among...

Will believers really be saved? (OSAS vs Loss of Salvation)

1 John 3:21-24 [NKJV] Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His...

Where is the reformation in the Bible?

It was a good try to discuss the OP, but even the TROLL that created the topic doesn't really want to talk about it. They just want to talk about the RCC. I liked your quote. I also thought that EVERY OT example of God raising up a new Judge to put Israel back on track of honoring the...

    OSAS Question

No. (but potentially not for the same reason as others ... one cannot LOSE a salvation they did not EARN any more than someone can choose to be physically "unborn".)
