    Did Charismatic movement injure Church?

When we don't know what to pray as we ought, the Holy Spirit makes intercession through us with groanings that cannot be uttered. Many times we have a burden for prayer for someone and we can't find the words to express it, so we ask the Holy Spirit to help us, and the words come.

    Did Charismatic movement injure Church?

That is certainly true with Bethel, Hillsong, and Kenneth Copeland brand of pseudo-christian cults. But certainly not true of Anglican, Presbyterian, or Baptist charismatics where the things you describe are never part of their brand of the charismatic.

    Did Charismatic movement injure Church?

I agree. The gifts of the Spirit are given to the body of Christ, in the same manner as a company car belongs to the company and employees have the use of the car as the manager directs. When I worked for the District Court and needed a car to go to another court to do my job, I couldn't just...

    Did Charismatic movement injure Church?

I agree. There are churches that have the gifts of the Spirit with members who never use them. There are other churches that don't advertise the gifts of the Spirit, but have members who believe in the gifts and desire to have them manifested. Even in churches that teach cessation of the...

    Did Charismatic movement injure Church?

The big question here is, what is a Charismatic? How do we define a person who is a Charismatic?

"I am a sinner saved by grace" vs. "I am made righteous through the blood of Christ."

Charles Spurgeon was head and shoulders above all others in his time and he said: "I'm just a poor sinner and nothing at all; but Jesus Christ is my all in all." D Martyn Lloyd-Jones is one of our greatest theologians and Bible teachers, and he said: "There is no such person as a good...

"I am a sinner saved by grace" vs. "I am made righteous through the blood of Christ."

I don't see them as two separate positions. What we need to do is to see what the Bible actually says about being saved by grace. "For by grace we are saved through faith, not of ourselves; it is the gift of God'; not of works lest any should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9). We are saved by grace, but...

    Tongues

First of all, tongues is not a doctrine. It is a tool of the Spirit, designed to compliment a believer's prayer life. It is also a ministry tool along with interpretation to build up the faith of a fellowship group. Paul said that tongues was a sign to unbelievers to show them that believers...

I couldn't find any direct instruction in Scripture for me to buy my Nissan Pulsar, but a helpful salesman friend went around all the car yards in the area to find us the very best deal for our money. Maybe he was led by the Holy Spirit. Or is it a matter of asking the Lord for wisdom...

None of this is founded on sound doctrine based in Scripture. Looks to me like a grouping of random thoughts based on bits of verses resulting a a post that has little credibility for a serious student of Scripture. Sorry. Nice try but no cigar! :)

    Freedom To Sin

The simple answer to your involved post is that Jesus settled the sin question once and for all when He suffered and died on the Cross. We are totally free from the guilt and punishment for sin. The will of God for us is that we get to know who Jesus really is, and know how much He loves us...

    Tongues

I think you have been "classically conditioned" (B.F. Skinner behavioral psychology) by your church mentors to believe that modern tongues is not valid. You have witnessed those who have started speaking in tongues thrown out of churches and disowned by those who were close friends and believe...

I am totally amazed that you cannot believe Paul when he says that the person who speaks in tongues speaks to God! Speaking to God is prayer! Although your quote is correct in itself, it does in no way discount praying in tongues. Paul clearly says that where there is no interpreter, a person...

Romans 15 "We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2 Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. 3 For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on...

What you have said is your personal view, not supported by Scripture, certainly not supported by millions of godly believers who do know the purpose of tongues and experience the clear spiritual value of it for them.

Oh come on! Do you think I'm a fool or something? A linguist unknown to anyone in the meeting, comes in and gives what sounds like a genuine tongues message, except it isn't because he has come in to give a false message to deceive and trap anyone who interprets into making a fool of himself...

What is so different between Facebook and a Christian forum? Nothing, except the latter has a Christian label and the former hasn't. We can choose what we see and receive on Facebook. I just block anything offensive and keep what encourages me. As I said before, it is not Facebook that is...
