    Peter the Rock?

This is false. The Catholic Church doesn’t teach that the leaders of the Church – act on their “own Authority”. It is by the Authority of Jesus Christ, per Matt. 16:18-19, Matt. 18:15-18, Luke 1-:16, John 16:12-15 and John 20:21-23.

    Peter the Rock?

Yes, I've dealt with him before - and all of his convoluted Scriptural theories.

    Peter the Rock?

“Satan” simply means “adversary”. Peter’s advice to Jesus – although well-intentioned, we adversarial. Showing that Peter was a flawed human being doesn’t “disqualify” Him from any leadership role that Jesus chose to bestow upon him. I’m not sure who “You” is – but I’ve never claimed nor even...

    Peter the Rock?

Your problem – other than trying NOY to address some of these points, is in that you are trying to differentiate “Leader” from “Head of the Body”. Whereas, Jesus is the Head of the Body – Peter was appointed as the Earthly Head? This is NOT an unfamiliar theme in Scripture. Joseph was appointed...

    Peter the Rock?

Whereas, I agree with you that Calivinism is a bad comedy sketch – I’m not the one who cast a “spotlight” on Peter. The Scriptures did. a. Jesus handing Peter the keys – it's not Peter the locksmith; it's the Gospel unlocking hearts! In the Calvinistic script, we'd jest, "Keys to the Kingdom...

The Origins of Christmas ~PART 1

Ummmmm, NOT exactly . . . The Christian historian, Hippolytus of Rome, explains in his Commentary on the book of Daniel (c. A.D. 204) that the birth of Jesus was believed to have taken place on December 25th: “For the first advent of our Lord in the flesh, when he was born in Bethlehem, was...

    Peter the Rock?

Sorry - but the Scriptural evidence of Peter's Primacy s overwhelming . . . a. Tell me WHY Jesus singled out Peter when He gave him the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven (Matt. 16:18-19) if did not put him in charge. b. Tell me WHY Jesus asked Peter and Peter alone to feed His lambs and tend His...

    Peter the Rock?

WRONG. Jesus said: Marr. 16:18 And I tell YOU that YOU are Peter (Kepha), and on this rock (Kepha) I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. “Kepha” is the ONLY Aramaic term for “Rock”. This is why Paul refers to him as “Cephas” ion his let

    Peter the Rock?

Jesus gave Peter the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven – just as God gave Eliakim the keys to the House of David (Isa. 22:20-22). It is similar to when Pharoah gave Joseph the keys to his kingdom by giving him (Joseph) full authority over it. This is NOT an unfamiliar theme in Scripture. By the...

    Can Priests Forgive Sin?

"Bishop" is a Biblical term pertaining to an office that is directly-descended from the Apostles. Without that succession, there is NO such thing as a non-Catholic, Non-Orthodox Bishop.

    Can Priests Forgive Sin?

Acts 1:20 “‘Let another take his office.’ The Greek work used here for “office” is “Episkopay” (Bishopric). This isn’t about “replacing” Judas’s Bishopric. It’s about the successive nature of the office of Bishop - not matter how much YOU reject it.

    Can Priests Forgive Sin?

Funny how non-Catholics can believe that God merely spoke anf the entire UNIVERSE leapt into existence - but they don't think He had the ability to give His Apostles the power to forgive sins or turn bread and wine into His Body and Blood. NOT much faith there . . . John 20:21-23 Again Jesus...

    Can Priests Forgive Sin?

If you read Acts 1:20, you would know that the office of Bishop (Apostle) is a successive one. Buy, you obviously don't spend a lot of time actually reading Scripture . . .

    Can Priests Forgive Sin?

Read it again, Einstein . . . Jesus gave His inner circle - the leaders of His Church - the power to forgive or retain sins in His name (John 20:21-23).
  15. BreadOfLife

    Can Priests Forgive Sin?

WRONG. Jesus told His inner circle - the leaders of His Church- to teach the nations, Baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:19-20). Jesus gave His inner circle - the leaders of His Church - the power to forgive or retain sins in His name (John...

JUSTIFICATION: Catholic Vs. Protestant, Part #1

In post #65, I asked a poster to define “faith”. The response in #69 was a refusal to give an answer. Since then, a number of you have danced around the issue or have simply refused to answer it.

    Can Priests Forgive Sin?

Not at all. It’s just an observation- NOT a critique. That’s as incorrect as saying that Christ didn’t instruct a few mortal men to go out to teach and Baptize the world (Matt. 28:19-20).

JUSTIFICATION: Catholic Vs. Protestant, Part #1

I don’t think you do. My hope is in Christ – AHD His Church because they are ONE and the same . . . Acts 9:4-5 He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute ME?” “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied. Saul...

JUSTIFICATION: Catholic Vs. Protestant, Part #1

And when someone who claims to be a Christian refuses to discuss matters of faith - 1 Pet. 3:15 couldn't be MORE appropriate.
