    Clarification needed please

Can an admin or mod let me know if CyB is only for people who believe Jesus is God? If it is, then I'm out of place here because I don't believe he was God, and shall get on my bike..:)

Was wine non-alcoholic in Jesus's time?

There was quite a heated debate in a religious forum a while ago started by people who insisted that the wine of Jesus's time was non-alcoholic. They insisted that when he turned water into wine and also drank wine at the last supper it must have been non-alcoholic. What do CB members think?

    'Sins of the fathers'

These Old Testament verses are puzzling because they suggest God punished people for the sins of their forebears. Are we to be held responsible if our ancestors were naughty? What do CB members think? PS- And the idea still apparently held sway in the time of Jesus- " As he went along, he saw...

    Is allowing mass immigration anti-christian?

Should we let hordes of scrounging ungrateful nonchristians into our countries and feed, house and welfare them with our taxes? "Do not yoke yourself with unbelievers, for what do light and darkness have in common?" (2 Cor 6:14) "Do not let unbelievers into your house or bid them God speed"...

Are strikes unethical, immoral and evil?

Britain is currently in the grip of strikes timed to cause maximum disruption in the run up to Christmas. Should we have any sympathy for them holding the country to blackmail?

    A fascinating passage

John 9:1-7 is interesting (and slightly puzzling) on several counts. Firstly it seems that people believed the sins of parents would be visited on their children- "As Jesus went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he...

A puzzling verse about heaven and earth

Jesus said- "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away" (Matthew 24:35) What exactly does "pass away" mean ?

Why did God put humans on earth?

It's a simple question but perhaps CB members have various interesting opinions? A follow-up question is- Where were we before we were put on earth?

    In our image..

As a matter of interest is this verse open to some interpretation?- "Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness.." (Genesis 1:26) The standard belief among Christians seems to be that God made us to look like him physically, i.e. he had a human body, yet Jesus said- "God...

    'God working' question

Any thoughts on what type of work God is always doing? Jesus said- “My Father is always at his work to this very day..” (John 5:17)

    Are we prisoners?

What did Jesus mean when he said- "God has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners.." (Luke 4:18) Freedom from what exactly?

    Is Reincarnation baloney?

On my rounds of the discussion boards I see that a lot of seemingly intelligent sensible people believe in reincarnation, namely that when we die we're born again as a baby somewhere. Is there any Biblical scriptural support for it?

What exactly is pre-Tribulation, Tribulation and Rapture?

Opinions seem to vary, but if it means the end of the world these words of Jesus make it clear that it'll be an uncomfortable time, and that Christians (the Elect) will be in it too- "Wars, rumours of wars, false christs, earthquakes, famines, persecutions, darkened sun and moon, falling stars...

I turned down the Samaritans, was I wrong?

I don't know if there's an equivalent organisation in America and other countries, but The Samaritans are a voluntary organisation and have existed for many years here in England and are on call 24/7 to take phone calls from people who are fed up or lonely or suicidal, and offer them...

    Who would you hire?

Suppose you ran a business and were hiring a new worker. Let's suppose two people apply and they both sound fantastic with excellent references and skills and are vey good at the interview, so there's nothing to choose between them. However, one says he's a christian, and the other says he's a...
