Most Amazing Examples of God’s Love

God is blessing me right now with the desire and will to read and study the Scriptures. This is new. I'm forever grateful.

    My Testimony

Yes, that makes sense. "Living Water" is water that moves, is the water of Spirit. John the Baptist baptized in the River Jordon. Frozen water would then mean a frozen spirit. Very much a barrier to God. It's such vivid imagery. Thank you.

    The Chosen

Equivocating over the original commandments doesn't get us off the hook. Proverbs positions "a lying tongue" between pride and murder, connecting the two -- we can't escape lying as a sin just because Proverbs lists false witness separately; indeed, it makes it even more clear that plain old...

    The Chosen

There are a multitude of verses that equate lying with sin. In the OT, the 9th Commandment tells us not to bear false witness -- which means it's a sin alongside other transgressions like adultery, murder, and theft. In Leviticus, it says not to steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie to each other...

What books are you currently reading?

I once knew a man named Chrome Bob (on account of his practice of chroming every part on his motorcycle) who was stunned to discover I read books for fun (it was probably Watership Down at the time). His declaration: "Even if I could read, I wouldn't read a book."

    The Chosen

Actually, I'm ruminating on how John 2, John 6, John 15, The Last Supper, and the Crucifixion and Resurrection are all partake of a central metaphor -- and how that metaphor is likewise integral to the notion of repentance, and consistent with the Christ's spotlessness.

    The Chosen

Yes, I did. It's given me much food for thought. I need to let it ferment.

    My Testimony

It's a mind blowing experience, isn't it? But it's clear, you have work to do: delivering the children of God back to God. What a calling! Peace and love to you, Jane

    The Chosen

To put this sentiment in metaphor, the show is a mirror.

    The Chosen

I don't think the text supports that interpretation (it's an interpretation believed and expressed by a few of the characters who aren't presented as reliable narrators), but you're at least familiar with the show. Good. In the field of narratology -- the study of narratives -- there is a...

How to receive the Holy Ghost

My cousin gave a sermon on the Holy Spirit a few weeks ago. Helped me realize I should pray to him, too, as well as Jesus and God.

    boring vain stories

There's certainly potential -- the inner conflict between indulgence and responsibility, between self love and self loathing. Between the outer self and the inner self. It's definitely worth exploring.

AI Among Us claiming to be Members

It helps to understand how AI works in order to properly evaluate it. AI today is based on Large Language Models. Text is fed into the model, translated into numbers, and iteratively rearranged into a multidimensional vector matrix. When you prompt it, it runs your words through the vector...

30 Reasons To Quit Social Media

I used to be a Twitter junkie. Over time, I realized that more often than not I would be more agitated, sad, angry, hopeless, what have you after hours of doom scrolling. One day, the automatic login reset. It asked for my password, which I couldn't remember. So I stopped going there. Soon, I...

    I Was Lost

On December 8th, 2007, I died. I grew up in the 1970s in a household that held antipathy towards Christianity. My Dad was an atheist. He said he couldn't believe in God because his father died when my Dad was 5 years old. So he was against suffering; hence, he became a hedonist. My Mom said...

    The Chosen

Yes, there are many Biblical errors in The Chosen, and in retrospect I have to agree some of them are egregious. I'm not sure it's about leading to "inclusive Jesus," though -- in the show he definitely says he is there to divide, and to bring a sword. I tend to think the heresy that will be...
