because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so,

“not even able”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These three words, learned by experience is the last nail in the coffin, as it were, concerning the works of self....
Not even able; in other words, there is absolutely no hope of ever getting the mind that is set on the flesh to subject itself to the law of God...
Than the qualifier; “the mind that is set on the flesh”...
Does this mean that the mind that is not set on the flesh can be subject to the law of God?... If this is true, than finding out what is meant by the “mind set on the flesh” would be of great value...
The mind set on the flesh is another way of saying; the mind set on anything that came from our births, into the life of this world, or in other words from one’s self... Self being the life and the heart of that which was born from Adam....Or in still other words, the mind looking for something good out of the strength of itself or from something in this world....
Then if that also is true, then a mind that is not set on the flesh; that being all that was mentioned above, can be made subject to the law of God...
This great truth “not even able” believed and understood where it belongs, does two things, first, it forever stops one from looking to themselves for salvation, growth, getting fixed as it were...For no fixing of oneself is offered in the salvation that is found in Christ... It is a replacement of the old with the new... Second, then by virtue of the first it puts the mind where it can subject itself to the law of God...
This, then can only be received by the faith of the heart that knows and believes this... For all truths embraced correctly, enter into the heart, then the truth becomes born in the life of the embracer....Which then becomes part of the life, as God reveals to the heart the truth of the life of Christ in one... Which is not according to human understanding of the words of scripture, but the heart sees the truths that are spoken of in scripture...
Then the deepening of truth(s); the truths themselves become more and more real and alive in one... For this truth “not even able” is then seen as the final word concerning the works of self, forever ending the hope one might have in themselves, that there hope might be in God alone...
For in this truth is great freedom, is great hope, and this hope is founded in the truth that God Himself has opened the truth of these words inwardly to the heart that sees this truth.... So the heart might rest in this truth with it’s eyes on God, continually....
“not even able”
Oh the glory and freedom that lies in these three words that the heart itself will know, as it rests in the rest of God....
Be blessed as we rest in the truths as He reveals them to our hearts...
@Not me Similarly, good to remember that the natural man is 'dead in trespasses and in sins', apart from the grace of God, as Paul in Ephesians 2 says.
