Hello to you who may be reading this post.

Please consider reading below first before posting, thank you in advance.

My name is Matthew, am very thankful for all the members on the CB site, and know that in this life each and everyone us problems in life, be it our own health issues or family members who may be in a struggle and may even be departing this world.

My heart goes out to each and all of you in hopes of having a spiritually fulfilled life in Christ Jesus by having faith on the death, burial, and resurrection in your heart that you are able to share that good news with others in this life before we ourselves depart from this earth.

With this being said, a question would like to ask all of you here now and if you would like to share your thoughts please do.

Please also keep in mind if your post is too long I may not read it, so if you could try about two-three paragraphs to keep it short and simple for other people as well.

The question is; What is the mind of Christ that we as believers have?

“For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.”

My understanding is these scriptures change perspective from one who does not have the indwelling Spirit to one who does.

The gospels are full of examples of his disciples failing to understand even the basics of Jesus' intentions. But after they received the Holy Spirit they were better at discerning his will. Even disputes among them did not reach a stalemate or cause division for long, because eventually both were convicted of the truth on a matter.

So we too should follow the lead of the Spirit. Then we will judge rightly, because we are not depending on human judgement.

Thank you for sharing, your insights Iforest.

Agreed on following the spirit, but what is the spirit and where does it come from and what does it do for someone?

What are some of the things Jesus taught that they did not understand that one can learn from by reading and having the Holy Spirit to open their eyes and understand?

Or if anyone else would like share some of the things that expound on what it is like to have the mind of Christ please feel free to share.

For now I'll tell of the best example I can think of, all of Acts 10. If Peter had followed his old way, with Jewish customs and laws, Cornelius would not have been saved and perhaps nether would we be today. But he obeyed the leading of the Spirit, which gave him a dream and spoke to him regarding the visitors. Later he went with them and broke customs, recognized their household recieved the Spirit, and lead them to be baptised with water, even uncircumcised.

The question is; What is the mind of Christ that we as believers have?
The mind of Christ is the attitude of Christ as note in Philippians 2:
1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
3
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Much love!

Well the understanding of this scripture is crucial. First off 1 Cor 2:16a is sourced from Jeremiah 9:24 and therefore the translated word 'Lord' in incorrect and thus misleads the real intent of the verse. It is not associated with Christ, it should be translated as LORD, the Father of Christ. If this is not recognized and understand then knowing the mind of Christ in this verse part b is going to be futile.

Second, we should look at the context of the verse. Starting in verse 9, God, our Father has given us spiritual insight and understanding because he has given us his Spirit. Because naturally without it we can never understand him. No one knows the Father unless he reveals himself to us in part, from his Spirit. And we know the Father because Christ has this same Spirit within him, and we know the Father through this same spirit that Christ possesses. We communicate to the Father through the Son.

If Christ did not have this Spirit of truth to know his Father first, we could never receive it, and thus never know God Almighty in the process.

Thus we actually do have the same mind as Christ, the Son of God. Now using this same mind derived for the Spirit of God, our Father, as Christ possesses, is another subject in itself.

Oh okay thank you for sharing. What does the mind of Christ look like: it is similar to what Enoch posted?

Much love!

Thank you for sharing it is true he did serve, his father and others.

The greatest in the Kingdom of God is the servant of all!
It is in giving that we receive.
It is more blessed to give than to receive.
The blessing is in serving!
Prove it to yourself. You got a bible...use it!

Great encouragement thank you.

@MatthewG yes, Enoch cited the characteristics of this same spirit that Christ received and exercised in mind and action as a mortal man. We are also capable of applying this same spirit of the Father with the same mindset and producing the same spiritual works and fruits as Christ.

First, we need to understand; "Christ" is not Jesus last name - Christ means the Anointed One and His Anointing! The scripture could be worded to say, "we have the mind of the Anointing"

Second, the whole scripture is thus... "(1Cor 2:16 [KJV]) For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ." What that is saying, is because we have the mind of Christ, we CAN know the mind of Christ - His thoughts - His ways.

Also, What was the mind (thoughts) of Jesus the Christ while He was on the earth? To do the will of the Father, and He did nothing unless He saw the Father do it first, in His mind! That is the way we should live also.

Would the anointing for a believer be that of the Holy Spirit/ possibly even so the spirit of Christ with in them?

Welcome to this community site...
I like your response because you emphasize that Christ knew in his mind, his Father's will, and performed it. And yes, we can do the same and have and know the mind of our Savior and do our Father's will in the same way.

And the next question is how people go about acquiring this Christ-like mind. Phil 2:5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.

There are tools available...
To renew our minds and be entrenched in the scripture is one vehicle.
To allow the spirit of truth within us to lead and guide us into this mindset where it becomes a life style and a way of life.
To clearly separate our feelings and emotions of the heart from our thoughts. To be persistent and conduct a balanced management of both and know how to proceed after validation.
To discern (pray for this gift if necessary) evil versus truth in people (spirits) and in ourselves. We do not want to be deceived or deceive ourselves. We must know our own limitations and live within these limits.
and there are more.......

Great Day!

A question to CB - The Mind Of Christ?
OP ^

Inanutshell - Quickened spirits thoughts in the Heart superseding (ie instructing, directing, taking charge of action) over the thoughts of the mind. (Causing the minds thoughts to submit to the thoughts of the quickened spirit's thoughts in the Heart).

Point ?
Established a remedy for a mans "internal conflict" between thoughts of the mind (in the brain) and thoughts of the spirit (in the heart).

Result?
Inner peace.

Transforming or Void of inner peace;
Result?
continuing inner "conflict";
----> stress, worry, anxiety, distress, anxious, depression, etc.

Glory to God,
Taken

Jesus repeatedly told us we were no longer of this world...that being born again we are now born into His Kingdom and are separate from the world...thus we are no longer to be carnal minded but to be spiritually minded....Jesus knew what was good, acceptable and perfect will of God and was obedient even unto death to walk in that perfect will...this is the mind we should have...

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
— Romans 12:2 (KJV)
