Although history was never my favorite or best subject, certain parts about history interest me and that would have to be more of natural history and any kind of historic event that doesn't have to do with war and stuff that I find boring lol :D Anyways, still feel free to discuss any kind of history that you want to in this thread. I'm going to start off by talking about something tragic that one of my favorite movies was based upon and I really don't know who hasn't seen it. :D

Really sad though. :(

Neither as far as I know
The reason I ask is because I love history also. But I've read some very conflicting perspectives on how, and why certain events took place. If the old saying, ignore history and you're destined to repeat it, is true, then one needs to know which perspective offers the closest to reality.

Here's an historical quote April. Tending toward prophetic when considering what is happening in America today.
Abraham Lincoln:
“This war would never have been possible without the sinister influence of the Jesuits. We owe it to popery that we now see our land reddened with the blood of her noblest sons. Though there were great differences of opinion between the South and the North on the question of slavery, neither Jeff Davis nor anyone of the leading men of the Confederacy would have dared to attack the North, had they not relied on the promises of the Jesuits, that, under the mask of Democracy, the money and the arms of the Roman Catholic, even the arms of France were at their disposal, if they would attack us. I pity the priests, the bishops and monks of Rome in the United States, when the people realize that they are, in great part, responsible for the tears and the blood shed in this war. I conceal what I know, on that subject, from the knowledge of the nation; for if the people knew the whole truth, this war would turn into a religious war, and it would at once, take a tenfold more savage and bloody character. It would become merciless as all religious wars are. It would become a war of extermination on both sides. The Protestants of both the North and the South would surely unite to exterminate the priests and the Jesuits, if they could hear what Professor Morse has said to me of the plots made in the very city of Rome to destroy this Republic, and if they could learn how the priests, the nuns, and the monks, which daily land on our shores, under the pretext of preaching their religion, instructing the people in their schools, taking care of the sick in the hospitals, are nothing else but the emissaries of the Pope, of Napoleon, and the other despots of Europe, to undermine our institutions, alienate the hearts of our people from our constitution, and our laws, destroy our schools, and prepare a reign of anarchy here as they have done in Ireland, in Mexico, in Spain, and wherever there are any people who want to be free.”
Then President Lincoln went on to say:
“Is it not an absurdity to give to a man a thing which he is sworn to hate, curse, and destroy? And does not the Church of Rome hate, curse and destroy liberty of conscience whenever she can do it safely? I am for liberty of conscience in its noblest, broadest, highest sense. But I cannot give liberty of conscience to the Pope and to his followers, the Papists, so long as they tell me, through all their councils, theologians, and canon laws, that their conscience orders them to burn my wife, strangle my children, and cut my throat when they find their opportunity! This does not seem to be understood by the people today. But sooner or later, the light of common sense will make it clear to everyone that no liberty of conscience can be granted to men who are sworn to obey a Pope, who pretends to have the right to put to death those who differ from him in religion.”
These words are chilling considering they were spoken so long ago. People today have become complacent and are like ostriches hiding their heads in the sand when it comes to the political power which lies within the catholic church. People would rather buy a lie which says that the religions are coming together through compromise than to believe the truth, which is the catholic church will never give up or give in. She is worth billions of dollars and will use every penny of it to accomplish her cause – to rule the world. She has been this from the beginning and she will continue until Christ Himself destroys her. (Rev 18:20) Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her. (Rev 18:21) And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

FYI. A Jesuit priest Father O'Donovan is scheduled to deliver the invocation at Biden's inauguration.

Since I was on the subject of prehistoric animals, I'll have to check this one out after I'm done with the dinosaur one. :)

I find that an interesting statement. I love history and have helped teach it as a paraeducator for 20 years.

War always seems to be a hot topic in history. I must admit I find the Civil War as the second most fascinating parts of history behind the "war" our founding fathers fought amongst themselves (they hated each other).

Two teachers I have worked with shook me hard by stating one of the greatest pieces of historical fiction (and thus, greatest teaching tools besides actual written documents was "Little House on the Prarie"

What? You kidding me!?!? But I got to thinking about it and studying it... Its true! That mundane life and struggles were the way it was 99% of the time.

Taught by a Protestant or Catholic,? Depending on that will be the difference between Truth and lies. Which is which you will have to choose but they will contradict each other.
I would say it's best to get a handle from both sides to make up ones mind.
Being brought up as a protestant my self I hated the RCC for all that the Prots claimed, I did not understand the RCC position but I was so angered by then that I went and looked into all that I could and found out that the prots were full of lies, stupid out right lies and they did not want anyone to look into depth on so many things as the doors were shut in your face to all who bothered to seek.

The RCC on the other hand was an open book and so much more in depth that all the prots were shallow as and simplistic.

Then when talking to RC people they were mainly idiots who had no idea of much depth at all and did many stupid things that the Bibles says not to and the prots are guilty of such as well.
When I questioned the prot priest they would run away, when I questioned the RC priest they would run away as well and say do not go and talk to the retired RC priest leave them alone. ? why the hell not ! Well the RCC has changed it's spots over time.

I know plenty in the RCC who are Freemasons, and I know many Freemasons who when the subject of the RCC comes up, you are forbidden to debate the subject as the Masons claim that it's only they who are correct and the RCC has no rights at all as far as they are concerned.

So the Freemasons are dictators at heart and from what I see is that they are in bed with the Jesuits.

When one looks into any Church or company you will find corruption within and not all are corrupted or as corrupted.

When I seen more of the RCC as the years went by I seen that they were becoming a total joke, a worthless organisation as to God and the same of the prots organisations as well, boy have I seen the joke that it has become, my father in law would point out just how stupid their priest was all the time, novices they are nowadays, all of them. in my nippers last 2 years of RCC School was run by clowns at the top that were totally worthless, the Priest a total moron, who back in the 60's would of got picked up and tossed out of the Church door way and down the stairs, he is such a moron, he was out right blaspheming God in fact and peddling Socialism as well, he was just being as any social worker end of story.

All of the Churches have been sold out nowadays.

I do not go around bagging anyone for what church they go to, but seek only who has a zeal for Christ Jesus, I am not into religion as religion never saved anyone.
Even the Devil himself is religious, not to mention so is every Atheist in fact, they have a religion of their own that they abide in, only they do not understand that fact.
Look at anyone who is Politically Correct, well there you have a religion that dolts abide in and some are radical as they come with such nonsense, with the zeal that would make even a Saint blush in fact, not to mention that lot of PC tossers are everywhere getting about wanting to be Nazi like morons dictating to all around them to do.

I can't say I have ever liked such things at all, we have the bones of such rubbish around where I live that have been dug up and a lot more stuff that people go looking about for that is open for all to see and kick apart to see ferns mainly etc mozzies, type of bugs, fish and such is more interesting to me than dinosaurs.
People never gave any mind to such things before the 90's, even Whales were detested by people who were born before the 1940's who had fishing boats.
I know a mates sister hit a sea cow in the 70's and that sunk the boat and she had a little blow up dingy to get back in and stupid boyfriend was back with the boat. I did not see the boat but for both engines where tossed into a dam and we fished one out one day and opened the hood and out came eels, it was totally full packed with eels, my mate had a fit about them as we would swim in that dam.

I wonder what people thought of Whales back in the sailing ship days, I am sure that they hated them.
Once out in a boat and we heard a turtle come up for air, boy are they loud and what about the Crackin or Nessie that they had to deal with back in the days.

That would be awesome. I know archeologist found a fully intact woolly mammoth once in Alaska, I think it was. Just image if scientist could bring one back!

I know that elephants are closely related to mammoths. :)
