The second letter written by Paul to the Corinthians around 56 AD, from what most scholars suggest. Here in these verses we are going to be going over the Assurance of the Resurrection, with the first 11 Verses shared here from his Letter to the Saints in that day in age and see what we can find out about this Resurrection.

(Just realize that I am a man who is fallible - Be encouraged to read and study the scriptures and may you be guided in the right direction by our Father in heaven, by and through the spirit in Christ)

2Co 5:1 For we have known that if the tent of our earthly house may be thrown down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands—perpetual—in the heavens,

Paul having addressed Jesus and the Light of Christ’s Gospel proceeds to move forward in once coming to the light and knowledge of God in the face of Jesus Christ goes on to talk about how, if the tent of our earthly house (tabernacle) may be thrown down (destroyed), that he affirms we have a building from God, a house not made with hands - perpetual - in the heavens.

First let us address the tent of our earthly house - are there any scriptures that can add emphasis? Lets look at what Job wrote,

Job 4:19 Also—the inhabitants of houses of clay || (Whose foundation [is] in the dust, || They bruise them before a moth).

Job 4:20 From morning to evening are beaten down, || Without any regarding, they perish forever.

What is founded here in Job is that - as human beings we are inhabitants of the houses of clay that is to say our bodies, whose foundation is dust (earthly); and we bruise and decay as the moth can destroy things, similarly to rust. From morning to evening, these bodies are beaten down; With any regarding them, they end up perishing forever meaning this body dies. There is no stopping death.

Paul is encouraging the Corinthians however, though we live in these earthly bodies, and they are destroyed. We have a building from God, a house that is not made with human hands.

Paul wrote in the previous chapter 2Co 4:7 And we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God, and not of us;

2Co 4:8 being in tribulation in every [way], but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing;

2Co 4:9 persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

2Co 4:10 at all times carrying around in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body,

We have a treasure in these bodies, and what that treasure is the (Heavenly) Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ, that the life of Jesus in and through his death burial and resurrection may be outwardly expressed through faith. Though this earthly body it may go through all types of different trials it is always being carried around by those who are believers in faith.

In the 2 letter Peter wrote, we see him write this,

2Pe 1:13 and I think right, so long as I am in this tent, to stir you up in reminding [you],

2Pe 1:14 having known that the laying aside of my tent is soon, even as our Lord Jesus Christ also showed to me.

This tent, the earthly body, this old man / made new in Christ - is to be laid aside and the Spirit that lives with-in us, is there with-in us being carried around as believers in faith of the life of Jesus whom died, was buried and raised again in which you too are raised to newness of life, when one dies with Christ, buried with Christ, and raised to new life in Christ.

2Co 5:2 for also in this we groan, earnestly desiring to clothe ourselves with our dwelling that is from Heaven,

Paul goes on stating, for also in this we groan, earnestly desiring to clothe ourselves with our dwelling that in is from Heaven. Paul is addressing the nature and state that all people tend to be in even as believers groans in which one desires to get rid of this body and to inhabit the new spiritual body which God himself will give to all people at the end of this life, that is able to dwell in the Heavenly realm with God.

Lets look at what Paul mentioned in His Letter to the Romans,

Rom 8:22 for we have known that all the creation groans together, and travails in pain together until now.

Rom 8:23 And not only [so], but also we ourselves, having the first-fruit of the Spirit, we also ourselves groan in ourselves, expecting adoption—the redemption of our body;

Paul does not mention only believers here, but indeed the creation and all of it groans together, and travails in pain together, even now today. Those who are awaiting and expecting adoption (the obtaining of the new heavenly creation), is what they are waiting on in which they leave this world behind in which is all in Gods timing. (2 Corinthians 5:4)

2Co 5:3 if so be that, having clothed ourselves, we will not be found naked,

Paul writes to the Corinthians, even though we are growing and desire to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, in that it be that we are not founded naked, but are indeed clothed in Christ.

Lets look at some other scripture from John who wrote Revelation,

Rev 3:18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold fired by fire, that you may be rich, and white garments that you may be clothed, and the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed, and with eye-salve anoint your eyes, that you may see.

Jesus is speaking here, and talking to one of the churches, at that time and addressing that they should seek his counsel to buy from HIM, gold fired by fired, that you may be rich, and white garments that you may be clothed, and the shame of (not having Christ) of your nakedness may not be revealed, and with eye-salve anoint your eyes that you may see.

Some other scriptures to check out are (Isiah 55:1; Matthew 13:44; Matthew 25:9), which to me indicated that all people have an individual choice to seek out the things of God, and to make their choice to either follow the Lord Jesus Christ or not, from what I understand it is Jesus who is able to heal the blind, deaf, dumb, brokenhearted, sick with-in the heart of the individual.

2Co 5:4 for we also who are in the tent groan, being burdened, seeing we do not wish to unclothe ourselves, but to clothe ourselves, that the mortal may be swallowed up of life.

As mentioned before, Paul continues talking about about we also who are in this tent groan, being burdened, seeing we do not wish to unclothe ourselves, but to clothes ourselves (in Christ), that the mortal may be swallowed up of life.

Now I’m not 100% what this means however lets look back at the first letter Paul wrote to the Corinthians.

1Co 15:53 for it is necessary for this corruptible to put on incorruption, and this mortal to put on immortality;

1Co 15:54 and when this corruptible may have put on incorruption, and this mortal may have put on immortality, then will be brought to pass the word that has been written: “Death was swallowed up—to victory;

Paul writes to the Corinthians about the Resurrection, and that it is necessary for this corruptible (earthly vessel) to put on incorruption (heavenly - by the Holy Spirit - the Spirit of Christ that lives with in us), and this mortal (earthly tent - when it dies), to put on immortality (given the Heavenly resurrection in which would be given by God that will no longer be corrupted).

Paul says that when this corruptible (Earthly) may have put on incorruption (Heavenly), and this mortal (earthly - once dead) - may have put on immortality (being in Christ?), then will be brought to pass the word that was written “Death was swallowed up— to Victory (In Christ - who has victory for all people believes and non-believer).

2Co 5:5 And He who worked us to this very thing [is] God, who also gave to us the deposit of the Spirit;

Paul goes on to write, and He who worked us to this very thing [is] God, who also gave to us the deposit of the Spirit! How wonderful is this, it is He who worked us to this very thing is God, who also gave to us the deposit of the Spirit.

Let us look and see what other scriptures we can see He who prepared (worked) us for this very thing is God.

Those who are adopted by the Spirit - in which God becomes our Father (we become his children by faith in Christ) - we see in Isaiah 29, interesting verses.

Isa 29:23 For in his seeing his children, || The work of My hand, in his midst, || They sanctify My Name, || And have sanctified the Holy One of Jacob, || And they declare the God of Israel fearful.

Isa 29:24 And the erring in spirit have known understanding, || And murmurers learn doctrine!”

— Very interesting scripture - Those who are the Children of God - the Work of His hand is in the midst - those who call upon God - and have sanctified the Holy One of Jacob (Jesus?), and they declare the God of Israel, in respect, and those who error in the spirit have known understanding (come to understand), and murmurs (those who complain) learn doctrine.

Radical scripture of those who are coming to truth start understanding, and start to learn doctrine.

Paul writing to the Ephesians mentions

Eph 2:8 for by grace you are saved, through faith, and this [is] not of yourselves—[it is] the gift of God,

Eph 2:9 not of works, that no one may boast;

Eph 2:10 for we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus on good works, which God prepared before, that we may walk in them.

It is for by grace, you are saved, through faith. Not of of yourselves by our own effort but by our own choices - and it is due to the gift of God that this is possible, and not of works, (look at me and what I do) but instead look at God in what he is able to do. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus on good works, which God prepared before, that we may walk in them

Those works are works of Love which is what God desired for us to do in the beginning until Adam had fallen, with (Life) Eve, in which we now live in this earthly tent that groans, adopted and having the deposit of the Spirit that we carry around which is the Holy Spirit and the spirit of Christ, in which we are made into a new creation.

Lets look at the second part of what Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:5 God, who also gave to us the deposit of the Spirit;

In other versions of the Bible you may see ( this given us the spirit as a guarantee)

2Co 1:19 for the Son of God, Jesus Christ, having been preached through us among you—through me and Silvanus and Timotheus—did not become Yes and No, but in Him it has become Yes;

2Co 1:20 for as many as [are] promises of God, in Him [are] the Yes, and in Him the Amen, for glory to God through us;

2Co 1:21 and He who is confirming you with us into Christ, and anointed us, [is] God,

2Co 1:22 who also sealed us, and gave the deposit of the Spirit in our hearts.

Paul is mentioning to the Corinthians in the starting to the Letter, that it is for the Son of God, Jesus Christ having be preached - in which comes the promises of God, in (Jesus), are Yes, and in Him the Amen - For the Glory of God through us (living in our earthly tent through us by the heavenly Holy Spirit/spirit of Christ), in which God who is confirming you with (them there relating to Paul, Silvaus, Timothy) into Christ - and they had been anointed by (God), who has also sealed them, and gave the deposit of the Spirit into our hearts!

This is how we can be assured the that Spirit of Christ/Holy Spirit is also deposited into those who are seeking out God through the witness be it Creation, Conscience, Law, the Written Word, and Jesus Christ himself (there are other witness but these are the ones on the top of my mind at the current time).

This is a true and real statement as those who are believers in the Gospel of Christ - death, burial, and resurrection are deposited in their heart by God the Holy Spirit/ spirit of Christ that lives inside of our earthly vessel, that holds back our natural inclinations of self and place God first - and we groan as we go through this life of having self sacrificing Love towards God, and towards other individuals in which we learn eternal principles from Jesus, and the Bible as it presents itself.

We are all groaning, and waiting patiently in the resurrection in which we have hope in, though we do not yet see it.

What we have learned so far is that we live in these earthly bodies, that will one day die. Through faith, in knowing the Gospel of Christ and seeing his Light, we realize that God deposits the spirit into our earthly bodies which is a treasure from heaven. The Spirit is the Holy Spirit/ The Spirit of Christ that lives in us, in which we die with Christ, being buried with Christ, being risen again - in Christ having become a new creation, because of faith and seeking after the things of God which is our own choice to do. Every individual is given the option to seek out God, or not it is totally up to them. Those of faith groan, as does all creation itself. Believer or Non-believer - all will be resurrected because of Jesus Christ and his Victory.

Lets move forward up the verse 11 as this was mentioned in the original post.

2Co 5:6 having courage, then, at all times, and knowing that being at home in the body, we are away from home from the LORD—

Paul writes again to the Corinthians - to encourage by knowing they have been given the Holy Spirit, that being at home in the Body, we are away from Home from the LORD.

What does this mean? It depends on how you take it. Possibly we are being at home by the presence and knowing that the Holy Spirit/ spirit of Christ is there, and the strength that Christ - the anointed one - gives to believers seeking in faith, - but then again, being here in this body, - we are away from Home form the LORD. - I am not really sure how to take it.

2Co 5:7 for we walk through faith, not through sight—

Paul goes on to admit, we walk through faith - not through sight.

Paul wrote previously in 2 Corinthians 4:18.

He said to them, 2Co 4:18 we [are] not looking to the things seen, but to the things not seen; for the things seen [are] temporary, but the things not seen [are] continuous.

By walking in faith, we are not looking to the things that are seen, but to things not seen; for the things that are seen (are) temporary but the things not seen are continuous. Knowing that the Holy Spirit lives with in us is something we can not see, but it is something we known and have confirmation that God deposits it with-in the hearts of believers of the Gospel of Christ. Though we can not see it - it is experienced in being there, as you root yourself in Christ - in faith and learning the scriptures and truth of the matters in the context that can be found.

Let us look at Paul said again in Romans 8.

Rom 8:24 for in hope we were saved, and hope beheld is not hope; for what anyone beholds, why does he also hope for [it]?

Rom 8:25 And if what we do not behold we hope for, through continuance we expect [it].

Rom 8:26 And in like manner also, the Spirit helps our weaknesses; for what we may pray for, as it is necessary, we have not known, but [this] One—the Spirit—makes intercession for us with unutterable groanings,

Paul writes for in hope we are saved, and hope (that is seen) is not hope; for what anyone beholds, why does he also hope for it?

(How can you hope in something you have seen it is not any longer hoping as you have received it) - the same in the resurrection. We have not been resurrected into the heavenly realm yet, going to be with God however we are hoping for that day one day in which we pass away and die from this body and going on home to be with the LORD.

Paul writes that in the like manner also, the Spirit helps our weaknesses; for what we may pray for, as it is necessary, we have not know, but [this] One - the Spirit - makes intercessions for us with unutterable groaning.

Through this life as tough at it is, depending on the situation you may be in, which varies depending on the circumstances, you may yourself groan, but it is from relying in the spirit - which makes intercession for us with unutterable groaning - perhaps deep sighs.

Just as sure as God exists Matt, hell will be emptied Rev 20:13. What a beautiful prospect, for us to welcome back our dead loved ones.

2Co 5:8 we have courage, and are well pleased, rather, to be away from the home of the body, and to be at home with the LORD.

Paul goes on to say, we have courage, and are well pleased, rather, to be away from the home of the body and to be at home with the LORD.

Paul is talking about death here, in how that once away from the home of this (earthly body) - one day being at home with the LORD (in the heavenly spiritual body that will be given by God - remember when we went over (1 Corinthians 15:53-54).

You can also see written by Paul in Philippians 1:23

Php 1:23 for I am pressed by the two, having the desire to depart, and to be with Christ, for it is far better,

There was times Paul was pressed, having a desire to depart and to be (raised in the heavenly) with Christ, for it is far better, however He desired for Gods will to be meted out while he was alive.

Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 4:6, He was writing to encourage Timothy and had said:

2Ti 4:5 But you—watch in all things; suffer evil; do the work of one proclaiming good news; make full assurance of your ministry,

2Ti 4:6 for I am already being poured out, and the time of my release has arrived;

For Timothy to watch in all things, suffer evil; do the work of one proclaiming good news; make full assurance of your ministry, for Paul writing to Timothy, am already being poured out (as a drink offering), and the time of his release (departure) is at hand - or has arrived. Meaning that Paul had come to the last hours of his life before departing and being killed to moved forward towards the LORD, in being resurrected.

2Co 5:9 We are also ambitious for this reason, whether at home or away from home, to be well pleasing to Him,

Paul writes, for this reason they are ambitions, whether at home or away from home (with Christ with-in), is to be well pleasing to God.

That is our Christian duty as believers is to be well pleasing towards God, as we all will eventually leaves this world and be judged for our own lives which each of us as living breathing individuals whom have the capacity to understand these things are fully responsible for how one lives out their life in according to their own (fleshly) ways, or to Gods (heavenly) ways which are always lead by the Holy Spirit/Spirit of Christ - and it is a suffering experience to have to forgive someone who may not desire to forgive, or having a time in which you have to be patience with another person who may be irate towards you. It is all about serving God having love for God first, with our heart, mind, and soul, and having love for Other individuals.

2Co 5:9 We are also ambitious for this reason, whether at home or away from home, to be well pleasing to Him,
2Co 5:10 for it is necessary for all of us to have appeared before the judgment seat of the Christ, that each one may receive the things [done] through the body, in reference to the things that he did, whether good or evil;

Paul again was to be well pleasing, to Him (God), whether at home or away from home.

He goes on in verse 10: Saying for it is necessary for all us to have appeared before the judgement seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things [done] through the body, in reference to things that one has done, whether good or evil.

This judgement seat of Christ - to me is dealing with the Nation of Israel though many may disagree - I do believe we have our own judgement that comes at the end of our life, but different than the white throne judgements (However do not believe me, but consider context of the scripture themselves as I am a fallible human being however need to make this mention).

Let us look at another scripture.

Jesus had said this
Mat 25:31 And whenever the Son of Man may come in His glory, and all the holy messengers with Him, then He will sit on a throne of His glory;

Mat 25:32 and all the nations will be gathered together before Him, and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats,

In this context (I believe Jesus was talking and speaking to the generation that he was around) however it does have merit for us today to understand, that one day we will die, and all people will be gathered together before Him, and to be judged based on the things we have done in our lives, - be it good or bad - either in faith, or not in faith.

It seems to me the separation would be that of believers, and unbelievers. (I could be wrong, you have to choose and decide for yourself what you will believe).

Paul wrote in Romans 14:10;
Rom 14:10 And you, why do you judge your brother? Or again, you, why do you set at nothing your brother? For we will all stand at the judgment seat of the Christ;

This is a powerful scripture that we should learn from - He said : And you, why do you judge your brother?

Such a hard thing for us do as individual human beings living in a world that we can be so judgmental of others that we come across or run across, it is such a thing to deny ourselves to be humble and allow them to be as they will be with out judgement, this is where I believe we need to rely in the (heavenly) Spirit of Christ to help us in our weakness when we start looking at another person and judging them.

He then asks, Again, you, why do you set at nothing for your brother? - Not sure what this means but however it is seemingly dealing with judging others. For we will all stand at the Judgement seat of Christ - you here the saints in Rome, Paul is saying. (I believe we too have our judgement though it is different than the white throne judgement - which was for the nation of Israel - you may differ).

Another scripture talked about in Revelation by John is this

Rev 20:12 and I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and scrolls were opened, and another scroll was opened, which is that of the life, and the dead were judged out of the things written in the scrolls—according to their works;

You see, John seen the dead, small and great, standing before God, and scrolls were opened, and another scroll was opened, which is that of the life, and the dead were judged out of these things written in the scrolls -- according to their works.

You see, there will be a day when we leave this earth that upon death, (in my understanding) we will be judged for our live, in how we lived by faith and relying on the (spirit of Christ), and not the (Fleshly) which dies. When people decide to live by the spirit, they will be building up their spiritual treasury in heaven in which God will reward one for their selfless acts of love towards God, and towards others in the (AGAPE LOVE), not the worldly love, but - the (Heavenly).

“having known, therefore, the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, and to God we are manifested, and I hope also in your consciences to have been manifested;”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:11‬ ‭YLT98‬‬

I believe the persuading should be done in gentleness and love, when it comes to God you may have a different approach but from those who hear about God it starts to weigh in on their conscience.

That is for the Bible study!

Love you!
