From the book BAPTISM AND THE BIBLE by Pastor Cornelius R. Stam, founder and past president of the Berean Bible Society.THE ORIGIN OF THE 'BURIAL' THEORY'Clearly the teaching of baptism as a burial in water has sprung from the gratuitous assumption that the word "baptismos" always, or most always, refers to water baptism, while in fact it basically refers to complete identification. We quote the two passages from whence this misconception has arisen, so that we may consider them in light of the Scriptures as a whole:"Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death; that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life" (Rom..6:4)"Buried with Him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with Him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead" (Col. 2:12).It should be noted that both of these verses state that the believers are "buried with Christ, not like Christ. This in itself should convince us that these passages have nothing to do with water. In Gal. 2:20 we read that we have been "crucified with Christ, and it is clear that this was not accomplished by submission to any religious ceremony.Just as the believer has been crucified with Christ' (Gal. 2:20) by simple faith, so also he has been buried-raised-with Christ, "Through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised Him from the dead" (See Col. 2:12 again) This cannot refer to water baptism, for if we must be physically buried to be "buried with Christ," must we not also be physically crucified to be "crucified with Christ"?Further, Ver.3 of the Romans passages stated that we were "baptized into Jesus Christ"-again, not like Christ, but into Christ, to become one with Him. This should bring to mind the truth of 1 Cor. 12:13, where we read that "By one Spirit are we all baptized into one Body." Gal. 3:27 clearly state that this is the thought were our baptism into Christ is concerned. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ."

Always a dodgy start when someone uses the word “clearly” when they haven’t yet shown anything at all.(RichardBurger;55632)
On the contrary it is in the symbolic immersion into the baptismal waters that we are buried with Christ into his death and rise to newness of life.(RichardBurger;55632)
In Gal. 2:20 we read that we have been "crucified with Christ, and it is clear that this was not accomplished by submission to any religious ceremony.
Why is it clear? (RichardBurger;55632)
Just as the believer has been crucified with Christ' (Gal. 2:20) by simple faith, so also he has been buried-raised-with Christ, "Through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised Him from the dead" (See Col. 2:12 again) This cannot refer to water baptism, for if we must be physically buried to be "buried with Christ," must we not also be physically crucified to be "crucified with Christ"?
But we are not physically buried with Christ. We are not literally laid in a tomb, or even in a coffin in the earth. We are symbolically buried when we are baptised and we symbolically rise when we come out of the baptismal waters if we go for full immersion. But this is symbolising what God is actually doing, the actual effects of God’s action - being reborn as children of God, membership of the body of Christ, forgiveness of sins.Baptism is an identification with the passion of Christ - his crucifixion, burial and resurrection. (RichardBurger;55632)
Further, Ver.3 of the Romans passages stated that we were "baptized into Jesus Christ"-again, not like Christ, but into Christ, to become one with Him.
Of course baptism is about complete identification with Christ. Yes in baptism we are buried with Christ and have put on Christ. But this is not at odds with Baptism being baptism with water. The baptism with water is symbolic of that. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. (1 Cor 6:11)

You are right, Rom 6: 4, and Col 2: 12. aren't talking about water baptism, According to the ogiginal Greek, Water baptism has no power to save, it is an "Outward sign of an [already] inward experience".Water baptism is our identification with Jesus, When one is baptised in water, they are identifing with Jesus's death burial and ressurection. They have died with Christ, are buried with Christ and are raised with Christ.Ephesians 4: 5. Says, "There is one baptism". Hebrews 6: 2, says, "The doctrine of baptisms" [Plural].The Bible mentions four baptisms[1] The baptism of John. [Repenting and prepareing the way for Jesus]. This has nothing to do with Christians.[2]The baptism in water. An outward sign of an [Already] inward experience.[3] The baptism in the Holy Ghost, This blessing is there for every beleiver, and is different to th rebirth.[4]The baptism into the body of Christ. 1 Cor 12: 13. This is the "ONE BAPTISM" that Eph 4: 5, mentions.

Please....we Should Follow Exactly What JESUS Have Spoken. For "JESUS Words" Are Spirit And They Are Life.JESUS Truly Say To Us That Unless One Is Born Again Of Water And SPIRITHe Cannot Enter The Kingdom Of GOD (john 3:5)...If We Use Our Flesh To Understand This Word...we Are Totally Not Belong The The Kingdom Of GOD.JESUS Strictly Say To John The Baptist Who Trying To Prevent Him During HisBaptism Of Water At Jordan River As HE Said :-"let It Be Like That For Now. We Must Do Juctice To GOD Plan" (matthew 3:15)See!!! This Is GOD Plan...Not Our Plan Our Any Body Plan But GOD Plan.May GOD Forgive All Our SinAmenFrom Watt
