I remembered when I was first seeking to be baptized in the Holy Spirit. I was a teenager, then, and I prayed for hours to be baptized. I remembered shaking visibly when the Holy Spirit descended on me.
I also remembered being afraid of the Holy Spirit. I could understand that the Father and the Son is a person, but the Holy Spirit? I wonder what He is. I am glad that that period of fearing what the Holy Spirit is, is over now. Now, He is my friend, just like the Father and Jesus.
It is important that we see the Holy Spirit as friend and not just some forces to get hold of.
The Holy Spirit brings us peace to our soul. Provides love and joy as well as other wonderful blessings. He is pure and free from sin, holy virtuous and good. I will quote the appropriate scripture:
Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those
who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Sometimes we will fear God's power and that is often also in times when he is troubled by us, there is the sinners prayer that I use as I am not perfect as some claim to be. I would enjoy sharing the sinners prayer section, I always find it humbling before our Almighty God:
Luke 18:9-14
New King James Version
The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector
9 Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ 13 And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise
his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified
rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Bible Gateway passage: Luke 18:9-14 - New King James Version
I enjoy the NKJV (New King James Version) and "Bible Gateway" provides an excellent resource for those scriptures.
