Solomon says there is nothing new under the sun. Everything that happens today or tomorrow, also happened yesterday. History repeats.
When Jesus walked the streets of Jerusalem, He was in a social atmosphere of religious and political conflict. There were armed insurrections...the political rulers had issues with their superiors...different political factions fought for power both there and overseas...there were zealots armed to the teeth ready to pounce on the soldiery...people were in awe of their religious leaders but were spiritually blind and didn't trust their political leaders who were in reality an occupying power serving outside authorities... and when Truth stood before those religious leaders they were too Biblically challenged to understand, and incited the congregation to chose a religious murdering zealot instead and crushed the Truth.
Anybody think that is a familiar scenario being played out now anywhere? When the final remnant church comes into true unity with Christ, having His faith and keeping His commandments, displaying His love and character in words and deeds, how will the modern church in America know the difference between the armed nationalistic Christ proclaiming zealots exacerbating the current conflict and hoping for political answers, from those who fight not against flesh and blood, but by faith have taken upon the righteousness of Christ and are doing His true work and demonstrating His power? Who will you choose. Christ or Barabbas?
