Jesus, Peter, and Paul--the Bible--tells us that many [Christians] would believe a lie and fall into "strong delusion." "Strong", meaning most will believe it and that this would be a time of "great apostacy."

The biblical reality is that most people have been taught and believe in a lie, in the form of "another gospel."

Do I need to quote the scriptures? Really?

Matthew 24:44
Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

2 Peter 2:1
But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.

2 Thessalonians 2:11
And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie,
Jesus gave the Why, Peter gave the How, and Paul gave the Result. Which is the promise of scripture, foretold by the mouth of two or three witnesses. Believe it.
So...what you "expect" is suspect...and most likely a lie.

What to do about it:

First off, if you think you know the truth--you are likely wrong. If you know the truth--ask yourself how it is that you know it, and if it did not come directly from God, it's suspect. What was foretold, is more reliable than what you may have been taught or believed.

Believing something is true, doesn't make it true--even if you have always believed it, even if you think the source is good or beyond question--by the Word of God, it's suspect. The point is...none of this is a surprise to God, but He foretold it as being a surprise to many on a grand scale: "strong delusion" of "great apostacy." Why? He said Why--because many wanted rather to believe a lie--so He let it happen. But why would He do that to those who did not want to believe a lie? Because, His "strength is made perfect in weakness." If you don't understand that--stop preaching what you don't understand--you are giving aid to the enemy.

Nonetheless, these are still to be times of being lead unto all truth by the Holy Spirit. This too was foretold. Whether you like it or not, whether you believe it or not: first comes delusion and apostacy and then revelation, biblically it is referred to as "knowledge shall increase."

But when, when is the delusion and apostacy discovered? When do the blinders come off? Well...if you do not come to the point of reckoning with the reality of foretold delusion-- never. That is, not until you die. In other words, if you don't wake up to the shock of this biblical reality while you are alive, you will wake up to that shock of "weeping and gnashing of teeth" when you die.

Meanwhile, the truth--the actual Truth, is out there...it (He) always has been. It's in the scriptures, but more importantly it is and has been being revealed "here a little, there a little" since Pentecost--by the Holy Spirit. God is spirit. But if you pull those blinders in and stick with what has been apostatized over millennia, refusing the Spirit in spite of or for the sake of the scriptures...you are carrying the water of promised delusion.

Start listening.

“But how can people call on him if they have not believed in him? How can they believe in him if they have not heard his message?”

(Romans 10:14, GW)

“Now after John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe in the gospel.”

(Mark 1:14-15, NASB)

How is it that advice is dished out as if the advisor knows. All sorts of logic is employed as if by logic one can arrive at truth......and how is it that the advisor hasn't factored in that the very process he/she uses could actually dupe themselves?

First of all pray Scott. Pray that God will grant you understanding of scripture. Then listen to all who come to you to speak about God, as Jesus sent his disciples out to teach you to observe all the things he commanded. But use caution because false disciples are more abundant than real disciples of Jesus, so take in their words eagerly, then use the Bible to make sure what they are saying is true. Follow the example of the Beroeans Paul preached to: (Acts 17:10-12) . . .the brothers sent both Paul and Silas to Be·roeʹa. On arriving, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11 Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thes·sa·lo·niʹca, for they accepted the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. 12 Therefore, many of them became believers, and so did quite a few of the reputable Greek women as well as some of the men.

If you are convinced that their words are true, and that they are truly Jesus' disciples, then allow them to teach you those things he commanded Mat 28:19,20

So far so good...I mean here and now, the acknowledgement and reality of biblical delusion.

It's a strange idea that such things could even be considered debatable. But here we are on a forum where it is so commonplace, like it's okay, like we actually have a right to our opinions. We don't. What we do have rather, is a choice; and now after all this time, should we not have learned from the mistakes of the past? Perhaps not...I mean I say it that way to appeal to reason. But perhaps it would be better to think there is nothing new under the sun, that each generation suffers its own folly. Still, all truth is also foretold. So I am hopeful.

There are many, but the greatest of errors that I have witnessed as not being biblical, is the "gap" theory regarding Daniel's prophecy, and the general disbelief of all that Jesus said was "finished."

It's just crazy that so many fall into the trap of believing what was seen and assumed, rather than what was witnessed.

You are so very correct Scott, this is not Burger King, we cannot have it our way. It is Jehovah's way or the broad way.

The biblical reality is that most people have been taught and believe in a lie, in the form of "another gospel."
Well then correct them.
The Gospel: "Jesus died for our sins and rose on the third day according to the scriptures."
So we believe that Jesus is the only way to salvation, the Truth, the source of life. And so a false gospel would deny this; stating that Jesus is not the only way, is not the truth, did not die for our sins and did not rise from the dead.

2 Peter 2:1
But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.
False teachers deny the LORD. So we can lump all other religions into that category, atheism/TOE, humanism, occult, etc.

Let's look at the context of 2 Thes. 2:11 ...

"The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thes. 2:9-12
They did not receive the gospel, the truth, Jesus and so these are the ones who are lost. The Elect will not be lost, they are born again, they put their faith in Christ, they do not believe in false prophets. Christ is the AUTHOR and finisher of their faith.

The strong delusion is sent out to those who reject Jesus, not to those who believe in Jesus.
It is black and white, you are with Him or not.

I have.

The "other gospel" that has been propagated since the beginning of the church was announce then as "antichrist"..."according to the working of Satan." I have merely witnessed it and have spoken against it. But the correction, although biblical, has not been received.
  • I have pointed out the error of not believing Christ who said "It is finished" and what He said "must shortly take place"--many things the church fathers did not believe and developed their own understanding, saying that the things of prophecy would take place in the future instead.
  • I have pointed to the fork in the path placed before the church as Moses did for Israel that they might also choose life rather than death--but both have chosen death: Jesus declared that He would build His church on the Rock of ages--the Father, from whom came the knowledge of who Christ was to Peter (the rock). But the church fathers chose the lessor...and with it came "the lie" bringing "strong delusion" and great apostasy for millennia. "Where the carcass is, the eagles have gathered together"...just as He said.
  • I have explained "a time, times, and half a time", which is the key of Daniel's prophecy noted by Christ, to explain the longstanding error of the church, even quoting Einstein to appeal to their own reason.
But all has fallen on deaf ears.

You implied that many "Christians would be sent a strong delusion and believe it." A true Christian is sealed with the Holy Spirit, guided and protected, therefore cannot be lost. The Elect will not take the bait.
You do not know what God is doing in anyone's life nor how they will end up. People backslide and go off the path for a time and learn hard lessons but God brings them back. Who are you attacking, Jews, Catholics, denominations whom you disagree with? Be careful.

2 Peter 2:1 is to "themselves"...to those "false teachers among" the church. Their "denying the Lord" came in the form of unbelief. They did not perceive that all that Jesus foretold had been fulfilled, and therefore explained it all away as prophecies unfulfilled, teaching their false doctrine of future events--denying all that Christ had done.

2 Thes. 2:9-12

Who has said, "Jesus finished it all?", and who has not said, "Many things are yet unfulfilled?"

You have correctly named those who have not received the gospel and also the Elect, but delusion has come upon both. Even most of the elect have believed "the lie" as they were taught it...which Jesus warned of, saying, "But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming’...the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth." Which is not a loss of salvation, but of being cut out of the full blessing of reigning as Kings and Priests with Christ before the end. Many carry the water of the gospel in shame, delivering the message without having fully received it.

I just addressed this. But, yes, they are sealed--but are put off until that future time according to that part of the lie they believed--which they have believed was to be future.

As for not being lost...this is true, they have only lost what might have come to them sooner, if they had believed it had come already...just as He said.

Yes, one of their sly satanic tricks is to weave together a whole bunch of verses like a tangled furball to try to baffle people with convoluted theology and make them think Christianity is too big and complex for them to understand..:)

Indeed, due to their own unbelief and their own inability to see and hear what was presented to them (the early church fathers), they literally rewrote their own gospel and have been teaching the foretold "lie" of delusion and great apostasy. What was foretold, is now a reality.

Even so, I don't claim to be better than they...to error is human, and blindness has come upon us all in part since the fall.

Yes but some are a lot more blind than the rest of us; Paul implied they were "spiritual perverts"..:)
Paul said- "Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!" (Galatians 1:6-8)

The 1001 (my number) verses woven together for the purpose of proving only the Bishops know Gods word.
I shy away from calling that church the church of the anti-christ, the way many do. But the effect of the parsed up verses can only feed the confusion.

Yes, vanity plays a part in it too, that's why there's such a ragbag assortment of cuckoo cults and sects who like to feel good by mistakenly thinking that they're something special because only THEY know the truth, unlike the rest of us dumb schmucks..:)

Being WRONG was Foretold...and what to do about it.
OP^

Correct!
And WHY men can be “wrong” is simple:
Men ‘do NOT’ know all things!

Men’s “truths” change daily.
Today a man can believe:
* he will live in his home forever...
..tomorrow his home burns down.
* a drug will safely sooth an ailment...
..the drug causes an organ failure.
* he will picnic & lake swim tomorrow...
..tomorrow a tornado strikes.
* he will meet friends for supper.
.. he breaks a leg and is in hospital.

Gods TRUTH never Changes simply:
Because God “DOES” know all things!

A man who “chooses” to Trust and Rely on Gods TRUTHS,
IS a man WHO, becomes content with his “choices”.

Thus the Question...HOW to KNOW what Gods TRUTHS ARE?
Scripture. Scripture is the SOURCE for knowing and verifying.

AND? Back to mans “WRONG”, that “occurs” between men?
Man says he WILL do this or that, and what the man said he WILL DO, fails?

IS that a “SIN” of man against man? No.
That is a trespass. And men ask men to forgive trespasses.
A man WHO: (intentionally or not)
Lies to a man...a trespass.
Cheats a man...a trespass.
Steals from a man...a trespass.
Causes harm to a man...a trespass.
Fails to pay a man a debt as agreed..a trespass.
Invades a man privacy/space...a trespass.

Men are Scripturally taught TO ask men for FORGIVENESS of Trespasses committed against a man.

Men are Scripturally taught TO FORGIVE men of Trespasses committed against them.

SIN is Against God. Only God Forgives SIN.

Remember Jews wanted to kill Jesus for Forgiving men of their SIN?
How many men TODAY, accuse men of sinning Against them, AND also say “THEY” forgive men of “SIN”?
