Scripture for the following 1 Samuel 28:14-19In the last days of Sauls life, he becomes very fearful and his actions as king start to tear Israel apart. The Philistines are about to attack Saul and his army, and he knows they are outnumbered by thousands of men. God will no longer speak with Saul, so he turns to witchcraft. The witch in Endor helps Saul bring up Samuel from the dead so he may speak with him for advise. Something Samuel says to Saul confuses me however.....V.15- Samuel said to Saul, "Why have you desturbed me by bringing me up?"Up from Sheol? Desturbed from what if the dead know nothing???

oh, thanks so much. I'm new...sorry I'm bringing up old stuff.I like your take on this...I too have started to believe this was a demon now. However, for a demon, those words by "Samuel" sure do seem to hold a lot of truth about why God has left Saul....I'm struggling with this and Sheol at the moment very much so.

Well most people do not stop and think that demons even Satan himself know God/Christand many know scripture well its why they can twist it and tempt with it.Remember Satan tempted Christ 40 days with his promises and lies he is a scripture expert thats how he lies so convincingly. Remember when Christ ordered the legion out the evil sprits knew exactly who he was and were afraid (Mar. 5:15)

I'm glad you brought it back up because I had not read Kriss's post and it was informative. I had always wondered about this, as well. I could not imagine the Lord validating Saul's seeking a medium because of OT law. I like the confirmation verse in 1 Chronicles. I think it is also interesting to study what people today say are visits from "ghosts". I believe those are also these same "familiar spirits" trying to intimidate the people because they are aquainted with what is going on in their lives. They can certainly mimick any situation as the devil and demons are very wise, supernatural, and love to terrorize humans. It's interesting to look at the word "familiar" having the root word "family". I looked at a study recently that was discussing how certain demons attach themselves to families and are passed down generationally because they are a "family demon" until someone decides to break their presence. Thus, familiar spirits stay with them. (Ex. alcoholism, sexual abuse, drug abuse, and the like that keep recurring in families ) So what do ya'll know about any of this? I have a second grader that told me he had a ghost come out of his mouth when he was 2. He was dead serious. I laughed and he didn't. He went on to say his mom took a picture of it. I tried to make light of it and tell him to bring it for show-and -tell if mom said he could. He told me the next day that his mom wouldn't let him bring it and not to talk about it to the whole class because they might think it's strange to talk to your dead grandfather when you're 2. I dropped it, but don't you think that's very weird? I have talked with the mom and she seems so nice. She says her son is a schitzophrenic (?) and has thanked me for how nice I am to him. He is super smart and precious. I just worry about him. Satan is alive and well; even in our nation's children! So sad:pray:
