If you want to know you need to read yourself. The old testament book of Leviticus speaks of the various practices Israel were instructed to adhere to. These were shadows or types or symbols of promises God made at various times.
Once familiar with the 'types' then one must understand what they pointed forward to. But like all things, one must take it a step at a time.
The theme of the whole scripture regardless of whether it is old testament or new testament is the plan of redemption

You bet. Rituals are foolishness, just as are New Moons, Festivals, Food and Drink. If rituals meant anything at all, Freedom in Christ would be impossible.
Colossians 2:16-17 CSB - "Therefore, don't let anyone judge you in regard to food and drink or in the matter of a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day. 17 These are a shadow of what was to come; the substance is Christ."
Why would Paul teach these things? He tells us in the previous set of verses that through the Circumcision of Christ, the removal of the Curse of Adam and Eve, we are made Whole and Complete through and by Christ. Therefore, what use is there for rituals?
Colossians 2:9-17 CSB - "For the entire fullness of God's nature dwells bodily in Christ, 10 and you have been filled by him, who is the head over every ruler and authority. 11 You were also circumcised in him with a circumcision not done with hands, by putting off the body of flesh, in the circumcision of Christ, 12 when you were buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead. 13 And when you were dead in trespasses and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, he made you alive with him and forgave us all our trespasses. 14 He erased the certificate of debt, with its obligations, that was against us and opposed to us, and has taken it away by nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and disgraced them publicly; he triumphed over them in him. 16 Therefore, don't let anyone judge you in regard to food and drink or in the matter of a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day. 17 These are a shadow of what was to come; the substance is Christ."

Romans 2:28-29 CSB - "For a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly, and true circumcision is not something visible in the flesh. 29 On the contrary, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is of the heart -- by the Spirit, not the letter. That person's praise is not from people but from God. "
