This is my first Christmas celebrating as a Christian, I will be going to church on Christmas Day, watching some Nativity movies, I'm reading the book of Luke each day in December like an advent, but aside from that, what are some things you guys do to make Christmas Christian and centred around the birth of Jesus?

First, beware of those who will attempt to rob you of this captured ground--saying that "Christmas is a former Pagan holiday." I am here to tell you EVERYTHING in this world was formerly Pagan and satanic, but Christ overcame all the world and with it many things that once were Pagan are no longer Pagan. Enjoy, and praise His Name!

You have chosen a fine and wonderful way to celebrate the birth and coming of Christ. If that is your heart you are on the right path. Only do not stay at any point along the way of following Him, but know and make room for what is next. It was never to stay the same, but rather to get better. God is spirit.

Merry Christmas!

I'm 74 and unable to attend church now. But the Lord is with me minute by minute, in my heart. I did decorate which makes it cheerful for me and brings back fond memories of Christmas past.

Whenever I went to church, my mom and I would attend Christmas Eve candlelight services. A few times it was The Messiah at church, but I loved the services with the carols best.

When I was a child I enjoyed going Christmas caroling with the youth choir from church.

As an adult, would visit a couple of lovely nativity scenes here in Los Angeles besides going to Christmas Eve candlelight services.

As far as doing goes Jessica, not a great deal different to any other day. Living remote has limited options although I could make the effort and travel, however usually I don't bother. So what do I do? Go to the beach virtually on my doorstep, hang out with some friends who might drop by, sing loudly and unexpectedly in the hope of getting some enquiry from those present.......or have a yummy nap. The wet season has started here in the tropics.....will see if we fry or get drowned! :sotired:rain?:

I still can’t grasp Christmas in summer weather - I actually miss the white christmases I had when I was younger. Not sure I could relate to sitting on a beach with friends - I have watched ‘ Bondi rescue ‘ on Christmas Day, just weird to me. !!

I know you are well meaning Scott, however in case no one has ever told you, free flowing unasked for advice is a proper pain in the backside!
Jessica has asked a question, did you hear it?

I have never really found it that easy to make Christmas different as a Christian, it’s just something I have struggled with over the years because most of my family are non believers and the emotional ties are linked to Christmas before I came to faith.( even more since my mum and dad have passed away ) Now I kind of embrace the season and appreciate the family times that we share.

She "Liked" my answer--which is what it was. You on the other hand have come in like a GRINCH showing your dark heart. :(

As this is the celebration of Jesus's Birth...

Something to do is to bake Him a Birthday cake..

Share it with your family, during CHRISTmas..... and sing.....>>"Happy Birthday", to Jesus.

-God bless you.

Thank you for your post. We hope you enjoy Advent to the fullest.

As you might well know, even secularists will embrace the Spirit of Christmas, and now you can join them and fellow Christians.

In Particular: it is a time for additional charity outreach, for fellowship with family & friends, to be pleasant with all you encounter, to forgive those who harmed you, to make amends with those you harmed, to listen to great music from the last 500 years, to prepare and consume fantastic seasonal dishes, to study anew the gospel Christmas stories, and to be humble & thankful for all God has given you.

For those secularists who say, “Wouldn’t it be wonderful if everyone was this well-behaved year round,” you can now reply, “Why yes: in fact, good Christians believe we should pledge to behave this way year round!”

Blessings.

There are those who groan about Christmas and all the extra expense and secularism surrounding the holiday....

But a dirty little secret is that it's not about them.

It's for those of us who can use it as license to give without a thin film of an excuse .... because we have Christmas to use as our excuse. "It's Christmas" is all we have to say and then their weird looks, skepticism, and incredulity stops.
Then we get to become "white noise" background to those who never get it and never will. Although a few still do eye me suspiciously from time to time. You know....that one squinted eye routine a few get when looking at someone as a criminal.
