Christianity is a father and child relationship

Once you accept Jesus christ as your Lord and saviour you enter into a new relationship with God as father and child.Would your current parent want to push you down a mountain if he had the chance?So is the relationship with God - Would He want to put you into eternal torment if He had the chance?
