Topic - Corrupt Priest

Founded in Jeremiah, in Chapter 2:4 there we see Yahavah speaking to the house of Jacob. - 5: The people have gone far from Yahavah following idols and become idolatresses. - 7: Yahavah speaks of having brought his people to a bountiful country to eat the fruits of its goodness but when they entered they defiled His land and made his heritage an abomination. - 8 The priest did not say "Where is Yahavah?" (forgetting him) and those who handled the Law, did not know him; the prophets prophesied by Baal and walked after things that did not profit.

Through out the nation of Israels history, they never did what Yahavah had told them to do. They would forget God altogether and follower after the things they sought for. When the Messiah which was proclaimed to come even to them, they would put him to death, because they did not want anything to do with God altogether. This would lead the nation of Israel to at the end of the age to be punished upon the Son of Man's return to gather those whom were of his bridegroom. There was some faithful, but not many. Even the priests themselves had become corrupted. Those who handled the Law did not know Yahavah, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, walked after things that did not profit. These things would still be happening when Yeshua had been made as a man birthed from a woman, whom was God's beloved son.

Founded in Jeremiah 5 - The justice of Yahavahs judgment - Judgements of God upon Israel for their depravity (v7) and in justice (v20).

Near the end of Jeremiah Chapter 5, in verse 31, we see Yahavah say "The prophets prophesy falsely and the priest rule by their own power; and My people love to have it so. But what will you do in the end."

I think the references to what would truly become of them when the end of the age had come, when Yeshua shows up to the scene. Because he starts recalling upon the old testament writings concerning, not only himself, but also the state of which Israel has found itself to be in.

““Run for your lives, you people of Benjamin! Get out of Jerusalem! Sound the alarm in Tekoa! Send up a signal at Beth-hakkerem! A powerful army is coming from the north, coming with disaster and destruction. O Jerusalem, you are my beautiful and delicate daughter— but I will destroy you! Enemies will surround you, like shepherds camped around the city. Each chooses a place for his troops to devour. They shout, ‘Prepare for battle! Attack at noon!’ ‘No, it’s too late; the day is fading, and the evening shadows are falling.’ ‘Well then, let’s attack at night and destroy her palaces!’” This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: “Cut down the trees for battering rams. Build siege ramps against the walls of Jerusalem. This is the city to be punished, for she is wicked through and through. She spouts evil like a fountain. Her streets echo with the sounds of violence and destruction. I always see her sickness and sores. Listen to this warning, Jerusalem, or I will turn from you in disgust. Listen, or I will turn you into a heap of ruins, a land where no one lives.” This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: “Even the few who remain in Israel will be picked over again, as when a harvester checks each vine a second time to pick the grapes that were missed.” To whom can I give warning? Who will listen when I speak? Their ears are closed, and they cannot hear. They scorn the word of the Lord. They don’t want to listen at all. So now I am filled with the Lord’s fury. Yes, I am tired of holding it in! “I will pour out my fury on children playing in the streets and on gatherings of young men, on husbands and wives and on those who are old and gray. Their homes will be turned over to their enemies, as will their fields and their wives. For I will raise my powerful fist against the people of this land,” says the Lord. “From the least to the greatest, their lives are ruled by greed. From prophets to priests, they are all frauds.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭6‬:‭1‬-‭13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

A promise to divorce the nation of Israel was proclaimed by Yahavah. These are Yahavahs judgements upon Israel. They despised the word of Yahavah, and a people from the from the North would besiege Jerusalem, many of these things written remind me of Yeshua, and how he was despised just as well in his day in age, even so here in Jeremiah’s day and age. God directs the siege. When you go past verses 13, onward you can see Yeshua within the words written, just as well.

I like in verse 9; where Yahavah of Hosts says “They shall throughly glean as a vine the remnant of Israel (Yeshua); as a grape-gather; put your hand back into the branches, reminds me of what Yeshua had taught in John 15 concerning his Father (Yahavah) is the vine dresser, Yeshua is the vine, and we are the branches and without Yeshua we can do nothing.

Lamentations 1:19 I called for my lovers, but they deceived me; My priest and my elders breathe their last in the city, while they sought for food to restore their life.

This speaks to me of Yeshua, calling to the people of Israel, and the priest and the elders decided together to put him to death. They did not see eternal spiritual food, they sought after regular food in order to restore their life. I believe in the days of the destruction, there was a point in time where the people within the walls of Israel were starving and they partook in cannibalism.

Lamentations 4:13 Because of the sins of her prophets and iniquities of her priests, who shed in her midst the blood of the just.

When mentioning her, I believe this is in reference to Yahavahs, once sought after bride *Israel, however he was going to divorce her for their wicked ways, and within Israel, they would actually kill those who loved God and loved their neighbor in Jesus day. This is just going off of my own mind and thinking I could be wrong. It just makes sense though that at some point this was happening. Reminds me of the Harlot spoken of in Revelation.

Ezekiel 22:26 Her priest have violated My (Yahavahs) law, and profaned My (Yahavahs) holy things; they have not distinguished between the holy and unholy, nor have they made known the difference between the unclean and the clean; and they have hidden their eyes from My (Yahavahs) Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them.

A progression over time, and the ways which would continue onward, eventually Yahavah, would send his Word, to relinquish what they made a mockery of. All over time, the people of Israel, even the sacrifices they had made, didn't matter anymore to Yahavah. He continues to stir up fury against these making a mockery of him.

Mizpah, was traditionally identified with Nebi Samwil, a village on a solitary peak five miles northwest of Jerusalem.
Mount Tabor, was located on the eastern end of Jezreel valley, 11 miles southwest of the sea of Galilee.

Founded in Hosea 5:1 Hear this O priests! take heed O house of Israel! Give ear, O house of the kings! For yours is the judgment because you have been a snare to Mizpah and a net spread on tabor.

A dire warning, because of their entrapments of others. They would kill the faith of others, by their nets. And they had a judgement coming because of it.

Founded in Hosea 6:9 As bands of robbers lie in wait for a man, so the company of priest murder on the way to Shechem; surely they commit lewdness.

Shechem, was located near the modern village of Balatah in the beautiful valley between Mount Ebal and Mount Gerizim, about forty miles north of Jerusalem.

Found in Micah 3:11 Her heads judge for a bribe, Her priest teach for pay, and her prophets divine for money. Yet they lean on Yahavah, and say "is not Yahavah among us?" No harm can come upon us."

Was this not something that Yeshua had encountered when he arrived on the scene through his earthly ministry? When he said, "you have made my Father's house a den of robbers?" When his Father's house was meant to be a house of prayer?

Founded in Zephaniah 3:4 Her prophets are insolent, treacherous people; Her priests have polluted the sanctuary, and have done violence to the law.

When Yeshua had show up on the scene, the Priest worshiped the Law, but not in the way Yeshua did whom fulfilled it. By loving Yahavah first, and loving their neighbor as yourself." They were working on profitting on peoples sins, not only that but slaughtering anyone whom went against the law. Showing no mercy. Remember when that one scripture stated "I require mercy not sacrifice?"

Jesus speaking towards the Pharisees,
Matthew 9:13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’[a] For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Founded in Malachi Chapter 1 - Yahavah through Malachi complains of Israels' ingratitude, 6 impiety, 12 and profane ways.
'
Malachi 1:6 A son honors his father and servant his master, if then I am the Father, where is my honor? And If I am a master where is My reverence? says Yahavah of hosts "To you priests who despite my name, yet you say "In what way have we despised your name?"

Founded in Malachi 2:1, "And now, O priests, this commandment is for you. 2 If you will not hear and if you will not take it to heart, to give glory to my name, says Yahavah of hosts, I will send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings." Yes, I have cursed them already because you do not take them to heart.

Back in the day, cursing and blessings, was something which was dealt with concerning Yahavah and the law which he had created. Though we do not live by these laws today, they are useful to bring us to Christ, whom achieved fulfilling them by "Loving Yahavah, and loving others." Are there implications of problems, at least? Perhaps?

Now we will head on to the New Testament.

“And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and elders of the people.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭26‬:‭47‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Speaking of the same old ways how the nation would be all the way back from Malachi, unto Jesus in his day.

Let's keep going down in the New Testament concerning Corrupt Priests in Jesus time.

Matthew 26:59 Now the chief, the elders, and all the council south false testimony against Jesus to put him to death.

All that was foretold in the Old Testament continued on even after Malachi's day. It seems that God had told the truth concerning his first bride (perhaps it could be seen that way) the Nation of Israel had not listed to him. Jesus was coming to get a second bride, after the death of the first one. I believe this would establish the Spiritual Israel - Heavenly Jerusalem, where people whom are of him, go into the Kingdom of God in that day when he rescued them and even today, people are saved to the Kingdom of God, and go there when they die. I could be wrong but still it makes me wonder, about all these things foretold, coming forth now in the New Testament when Jesus arrives. They continued to not listen and despised Yahavah's Word.

Matthew 27:6 But the chief priest took the silver pieces and said "it's no lawful to put them into the treasury, because they are the price of blood."

After paying for the information, it seems they wanted to make their wrongs right deciding not to put the money spent on the death of Christ in the treasury...

Matthew 27:20 But the chief priest and the elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus.

It's important to remember when you are reading the bible, what is going on the in the narrative. Can you see why? Jesus promised these Pharisees that destruction would come upon them in their day and age, and were even warned of his coming but still did not listen, and therefore did not see him.

Mark 15:11 But the chief priests stirred up the crowd, so that he should release Barabbas to them.

Again we see the same thing here in Mark 15:11.

Mark 15:31 Likewise the chief priests, also mocking among themselves, with the scribes said "He saved others, Himself he cannot save."

In life there will be mockers. You can see the chief priest, mocking among themselves. Slandering Jesus, with the scribes there. Is not amazing that Jesus himself suffers from the same things other people who simply want to live a life for God can be mocked, even slandered against and they haven't done nothing wrong to perhaps the person(s). Jesus warned them, about their destruction, but they simply did not listen, and simply did not care.
