    "Did God create evil?"
Is this a test question, Kriss ?No, God did not creat evil.evil is a warping of all that has been created."Every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of lights.."satan does not create-he twists and warps all that has been created.God allows it, at this time, until all things have been accomplished in his word.He wants Heaven to be populated with people of free will that freely chose or chooseto serve God.That's my understanding of evil.

When something evil happens in this world, some people ask "How could God let this happen?"Then there are others that say when a person dies in a horrific accident, or even if they are brutally murdered that "God decided that it was just their time." I don't know how I feel about this statement and to be honest it kind of bugs me. For example, the young girl that was strangled to death at Clemson University in SC... her mother was on camera just a few days later, tear-free, saying that God just called her home. I have a huge problem with this. I don't think that God would want to call her home by having some psychopathic nut break into her apartment and strangle her to death. If he did, there's something very wrong with this picture. The same goes for someone that might kidnap a child, rape and kill them. I hope that I'm not the only one out there who would be okay with this being an act of God.People pick and choose what God might have a hand in doing. What do you guys think of this?

MindCreations,It's not an act of God. We have a real enemy and he is out to kill, steal and destroy along with his little helpers; 24/7.There's alot of pain in this world. If pain was water; we'd be flooded.God is fair and just. Everyone that suffers unjustly will be compensated. I think of it like this: an abused child will receive years of joy and happyness to make up for each day of pain. Whatever the compensation it will be like Apostle Paul stated; more then make up for our pain. Our only hope is in Christ Jesus.

Kriss,I pray you give me an 'A+'God did not create evil, but instead created other spirits with reasoning and independent wills that are in the likeness of His spirit with the same reasoning of will. And with these will-reasoning spirits comes evil when another will is introduced that decides by reason to abide by ones own will rather than Gods. I said this before on another thread and that is, sin is simply anothers will rather than Gods will. Grace from which we receive mercy for the sins committed in this sinful flesh through the atonement of the sacrificial blood of our Christ should cause in us a gratitude so deep that we desire the will of God and so escape the evil of choosing our will over His.This truth can be seen in the Lords prayer when He said,Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven

I think all of you hit on some great points.Did God create evil? The short answers is both yes and no, so follow me to understand here. God created both the heavenly host and ourselves with free will. We know this because we have the choice to follow God or not to follow God. In allowing us to have free will in creation, He creations included Satan and the others that rebelled away from him. He created each and every atheist, Muslim, Jew, Hindu, and so on.So, indirectly, God's creation did create that which would become evil. We know that God is all-knowing and that he is timeless - being the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow as Paul tells us about Christ. So the question is, why did God create that which he knew would rebel? That's a question that I surely cannot answer nor do I think anyone can. However, we will know in that wonderful day.I know it bothers us when very bad things happen to good people and vice versa. I think the overall message is that this life ultimately isn't what counts since there is so much more - an eternity - beyond it. It's nothing new under the sun that God's prophets suffered from stonings, murder, and all sorts of other gruesome deaths. This culminates with the crucifixion of His only begotten Son in an excruciating death.I don't think God would dictate that that we get called home through rape or some other gruesome act, but His hand is in everything according to His divine purpose. Remember from Job who the ultimate afflictor is; (excuse the Southernism) it ain't God. Sometimes that's hard to stomach in this world, but it's what was, what is, and what will be until we join Him again.

I wonder if grieving parents are just coping in the only way they know how; trying to get thru a horrible time in their lives. The only way they can cope is acknowledge God is in control ? Yet the rest of us that look on from the outside don't share their depth of grief .Hmmm, we experience other emotions.

Kriss, I thought your title -community guide, plus all your lead questions in this forum meant that you were a leader in this forum.I assumed you knew what evil was, as well as all the other questions you pose, so I thought it was like a test question.forgive my confusion in this ? [IMG]

Here is my favorite answer to the question.Evil has no existence of its own - it is really a lack in a good thing. For example, holes are real but they only exist in something else. We call the absence of dirt a hole - but it cannot be separated from the dirt. So when God created, it is true that all that existed was good. One of the good things that God made was creatures who had the freedom to choose good. In order to have a real choice, God had to allow there to be something besides good to choose. So God allowed these free angels and humans to choose good or non-good (evil). When a bad relationship exists between two good things we call that evil, but it does not become a "thing" that required God to create it.Perhaps a further illustration will help. If I were to ask the average person "does cold exist?" - his/her answer would likely be yes. However, this is incorrect. Cold does not exist. Cold is the absence of heat. Similarly, darkness does not exist. Darkness is the absence of light. Similarly, evil is the absence of good, or better, evil is the absence of God. God did not have to create evil, but rather only allow for the absence of good.

Thank GOD.......Someone finally went to the scriptures...I was wondering how long it would take.....thanks thomas for setting the matter straight. It is amazing to me that there were SO many versions of mans understnading given in answer to Kriss's question. Of course there will be those who will disagree with this scripture saying it means something less than evil....but GOD indeed did decree evil......I ask this...Who else would create something but the CREATOR.........Pop

Actually, this question was answered long ago, I agree this is one of the rare cases where we did not cite Scripture, but what was said is derived from understanding of this concept. In my case I will admit this verse did not come to mind, but I don't claim to know it all.Whatever you do, do not confuse this word, ra', with sin here. God's not to blame when something bad happens and I don't want him to be confused with the gods (little 'g') of old who supposedly toyed with humans.

Did God create evil; that is a question I have often thought long and hard over? I can’t help but to wonder if all that is going on now was planned by God from the time that his perfectly created being (Lucifer) unperfected! Ezek 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.I feel that God in all his wisdom and eternal understanding planned to fix that very problem from the moment of discovery, his perfect creation unperfected! And God Knowing the only pattern for Lucifer to follow set in motion the plan of creating Adam completely innocent and void of any knowledge right in the midst of Lucifer, with one commandment! I have theorized that God is creating perfection by allowing Lucifer to exercise his degenerated state of spirit and mind, and through the works of Christ God in his wisdom has made a way to create perfection from the imperfections of Lucifer, He is using Lucifer to prevent the repeating of that for all eternity, thus…creating perfection! For once we have been redeemed from this state,…...(for this world is the product of Lucifer’s degenerated state of mind & spirit), and by the method of our redemption, we could never repeat the thoughts that carried Lucifer away from his Loving God. But, to answer the question; God created Lucifer, and Lucifer founded iniquity, and this world is the demonstration of Lucifer’s mind, heart, & spirit, and this creation is the stage and proving ground, and the place where God has chosen to fix the problem.

Thanks RosI too felt this was being taken out of context or we humans were misunderstanding something here somewhere evil is lack of good (God)God did create Satan as good untill he choose pride/evil. I wondered if this could not mean that God created evil meaning he created Satan.

That is the direction I lean twords, God did not create Evil, He created Lucifer who created Evil, There was one command that Adam was given, and the only way Lucifer could gain access to the mind of Man was for Adam to eat the fruit, that opened the portals for the Knowledge of Evil that Lucifer consists entirely of! and enabled thought influence from "the Knowledge of good and Evil" Remember the warning that God gave to Cain..Ex 4:7 Sin lieth at the door, and unto thee shall be HIS desire.

I ask you...........Who is LORD over ALL?...........how can you ignore the rest of the verse?....." I the LORD do ALL these things....there are many descriptions of the word calamity...one is wickedness.......Now...are you gonna tell me that wickedness is not evil?........ALSO...the remark that satan created evil is ridiculous......satan is a creator now?.......I guess that would make him the god of evil right?......So now theres two Gods?...dear ones.....the LORD is the maker of good and evil, and therefore must be above all......It is impossible to have two Gods.....one good and the other evil.....consider this.........since satan IS NOT a creator and ALMIGHTY GOD is...and evil for sure was created......tell me who could create it(decree it) but the one and only GOD of the universe....HE who created ALL things...............regards.
