1:24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,

1:25 That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

1:26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

These passages tell of the Apostles replacing the position of Judas.

In verse 25 "that he might go to his own place" has generated various interpretations. The "he" is usually interpreted to be speaking of Judas. I think it may well be that the "he" might be referring to the apostle under consideration to replace Judas. That the newly chosen apostle, Matthias, might go to his own place in the ministry, replacing Judas.

New International Version
to take over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go where he belongs."

New Living Translation
as an apostle to replace Judas in this ministry, for he has deserted us and gone where he belongs."

English Standard Version
to take the place in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas turned aside to go to his own place.”

haven't parsed the Lex though,
Acts 1:25 Lexicon: to occupy this ministry and apostleship from which Judas turned aside to go to his own place."
