The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look! There is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! John 1:29

God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it. John 3:17

Yes, Adam's one sin brought condemnation upon everyone, but Christ's one act of righteousness makes all people right in God's sight and gives them life. Romans 5:18

For God has imprisoned all people in their own disobedience so he could have mercy on everyone. Romans 11:32

And this is his plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ--everything in heaven and on earth. Ephesians 1:10

This is good and pleases God our Savior, for he wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. 1Tim. 2:3&4

We work hard and suffer much [fn] in order that people will believe the truth, for our hope is in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and particularly of those who believe. 1Tim 4:10

For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and by him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of his blood on the cross. Colossians 1:19&20

jf,

The question is can the world just sit and do nothing and still go to heaven? If so, why did God bother to put mankind through this earth age. Or does God want to know if each individual will love Him or not? with all those verses you quote, you are still missing the mark.

Paul if that is a question you would like to have answered maybe you should start a new thread and ask it, that way we won't drift away from the question I posed in the OP.

All who repent of their sins and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ shall be saved. Christ died for sinners ans all who come to Him will not be put to shame. So yes Christ died for all the sins of the world for them who believe.

No they must stop resisting God and accept what Jesus has done for us all at the Cross. But it seems to me that you are the one missing the mark unless of course you agree with the scriptures I posted about everyone being reconciled back to Father and in the end, God is all and in all. The scriptures clearly show us that God wants everyone reconciled so Paul it's really simple, believe that all will be reconciled or God fails to accomplish His will.

So which is it the world or only those who believe?

We can see by the scriptures that every knee bows and every tongue confesses allegiance to God, in the end there are no more enemies and God is all and in all.
Everyone that died in Adam is made alive in Christ. Hallelujah!

Is placing your faith, trust, confidence and hope in Jesus' work on the cross, "nothing."

God sent His Son into the world to save mankind by offering His blood as a sacrifice for mankind's sins. Since God knows that mankind can not keep His perfect laws God did, on the cross, what mankind can not do.

So now you want to say we must do something. Well we can do something. We can BELIEVE the gospel of grace and that is what He wants. He want to glorify the work of His Son on the cross. But men want to glorify their works and in truth that is saying God's work on the cross does not satisfy what they want.

The world is referring to all people who believe. It is made quite clear throughout all of scripture that the only ones who will receive forgiveness of sins and will be viewed as righteous before God will be those who repent and place their trust in the savior. Anyone who doesn't will perish.

Where do you get the idea that all people will be saved and that all will be made alive in Christ.....I keep mentioning this verse but I don't think you read it so here it is again..Matthew 7:14. Jesus taught that not all would walk the narrow way into eternal life. Few there would be that would find it.

Jf, you are quoting a number of verses here but not quoting them in context of the passage of Scripture they are written in. Every one, take a look at the context for jiggy’s verses, there is always a qualifier. Read 2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” And this verse is only one verse in context of:
2Pe 3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
2Pe 3:2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
2Pe 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
2Pe 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
2Pe 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
2Pe 3:6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
2Pe 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
2Pe 3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
2Pe 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
2Pe 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

The Lord God does not want anyone to perish, He sent His Son to die, etc. to make that possible, but He will not force Himself on any of His Children. He does not want robots, HE want all of His Children to love Him but He has also given His Children “Free Will.” They need to choose for themselves to love Him or not.

JF, you mentioned John 3:17, “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. Why did you not include John 3:16 or 18,19,20,21?
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Joh 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Joh 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
Joh 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
Joh 3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

JF, You mention Romans 11:32, but not in context of verses 25 - 32. Who is being addressed in your verse? CONTEXT! CONTEXT!

Look at Ephesians 1:10, what is the CONTEXT? You need to include 1: 3-14
Eph 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
Eph 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Eph 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Eph 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
Eph 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Eph 1:8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
Eph 1:9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
Eph 1:10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
Eph 1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Eph 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Who is Paul talking about, what is the SUBJECT? Verse 4and 5 gives it to you, “hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world,” Paul is talking to those chosen before the foundation of the world, THE PREDESTINED. Paul is not writing this portion to those with FREE-WILL.

I am going to let you and the others reading this look at the rest of the verses you mentioned to see the CONTEXT of those verses. Remember the discover “WHO, WHAT, WHERE, AND WHEN.

And what do you mean by "doing nothing?"

But men want to glorify their works and in truth that is saying God's work on the cross does not satisfy what they want.

Rich, I think you figure out the answer yourself. “placing your faith, trust, confidence and hope in Jesus' work on the cross” is each individuals part of salvation. It is the “believeth,” in John 3:16. It is the “our part” of salvation. In addition to that I would add, repentance and continuing to learn who the “Him” of John 3:16 is.

jf, do you have trouble reading? Did you read my response or just look at it. My response isn't that difficult. What does God's Word say, how does God's Word answer your question? Does God want everyone reconciled? It's right there, He wants it so much that He gave His All, but that does not mean everyone is going to ACCEPT, and He WILL NOT force one of His children to ACCEPT. Read the Scripture, I can't do it for you. It is YOUR choice. If you can't understand that you will just have to put it on a shelf for now, someday maybe you will understand.

JF, maybe I am presuming too much, maybe you don't know what I have thought you knew. I most often anticipate when someone asks a question on this board they all ready know that answer, maybe they don’t. I have never been much of an evangelist, I am a teacher. I spend much of my time on boards that are far deeper in the Word than this forum. So, jf, if that is the case I apologies for trying to take you deeper than you are able to go.

Why do you deny what the scriptures say?
The scriptures tell us repeatedly that all are reconciled, the restitution of all things, every knee and every tongue. Seems to me that your the one that is struggling with accepting what the scriptures say.

What am I denying? God wants everyone, does that everyone accepts? Maybe God needs to rebuild that narrow road. If I recall, there is a wide road that most are on, do YOU remember were it leads?

“We can see by the scriptures that every knee bows and every tongue confesses allegiance to God” True, but when does this happen? CONTEXT jf, CONTEXT! You can’t just close your eyes and pick any old Scripture from the Bible you want. Verses are NOT written in a vacuum, THEY ARE IN CONTEXT!

Yes indeed Paul context is very important. OK so you agree that it is God's will for everyone to be reconciled, great. Did He send Jesus to just reconcile some or did He send Him to reconcile all?
Why is the time at which "every knee bows and every tongue confesses allegiance to God" so important?

does reconciliation take away someones free will? Is there know longer a choice to make?

It is important because when it happens it is TOO LATE! Grace comes to an end before they bow.
