What is the mindset of the christian community on drugs?

Well you will get different opinions from different religions but we are a Bible study site so lets see what God says: Rev 22:15 For without [are] dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. Here the Word sorcerer's in the Greek the Word is pharmakeus from pharmakon (a drug, i.e. spell-giving potion)It is where we get our word pharmaceutical and means one who makes or takes pharmaceuticals or drugs that can cause One to believe a lie..... that is their mind is altered So what God is saying is that mind altering illleagle drugs for non medical reasons is the same as murder and idolatry... This is not the same as prescribed medications by a doctor ...Luke himself was a doctor an therefore prescribed remedies for ailments

what about medical marijuana? in twelve different states in the U.S. marijuana has been decriminalized and is being prescribed by doctors to patients with AIDS, cancer, glaucoma, anorexia, and many other ailments in which cannabis (marijuana) helps on different areas of the brain and body to ease pain and make life easier in general.but marijuana is classified as a psychoactive (mind altering) drug. if it were legal in all aspects in the U.S. would it be considered ok, in a religious standpoint, to use the drug?

If its prescribed by a doctor its OK same as antidepressants or other mind altering drugs for the medical use.The language is pretty clear in scripture that these drugs are also associated with more shady side illegal types of persons and crafts ... example a Physician and a priest are called by different word then the potion/drug maker sorcerers etc. A physician is not called a murder or Idol worshipper because he dispenses drugs. However if you buy illegal drugs marijuana or other wise from a drug dealer ..you are financially supporting all bad things the dealer does with that money... So you have a part in his guilt ...
