Does anyone have insight on what this means. I read it a lot in differenet passages, but guess I don't hear quite what it is saying. I think with this passage, I think it means God allows us to not understand certain things we read in order to grow in faith and knowledge. Correct?

"And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick? For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad. If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.

And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.

And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it. And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.
Mark 4:21‭-‬33 KJV

@Mayflower As you grow in God your [spiritual] eyesight and hearing should be improving. Consider these verses:

"And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them." Matt 13:10-17

When you start to hear and see the things of God, be sure that you are hearing the right way [with spiritual ears rather than the ears of fleshly ways]:

"Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have." Luke 8:18

So what is it that gives spiritual eyes and spiritual ears but the power of the Holy Spirit? Is that not where we receive the power of God in us?

"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: ..." Acts 1:8

"And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?" Acts 2:8

"If any man have ears to hear, let him hear." is essentially, "individuals who have ears and are willing to actually use them, listen up". As opposed to stiff-necked individuals who metaphorically stick wax in their ears and aren't willing to listen.

"He that hath ears to hear let him hear" indicates those who are ready, willing, and able to hear God speak through His Word, and obey it. TOTAL RECEPTIVITY.

There are many who attend church meetings, for example, but have not prepared their hearts and minds to hear God speak through His Word and then act upon. There are many who come to be entertained, others who choose to be distracted, others who fall asleep, and others who resist the truth. They do not have ears to hear.

The reason why Christ resorted to parables was because His enemies were resisting the truth. Therefore they would not receive any more light, and they would not understand what God was saying. Therefore they would become spiritually blind.

But there are many Christians (some right here on this forum) who also resist the truth. Therefore seeing they will not see, and hearing they will not understand in the the future. They will be blinded to the truth.
