    "Face your demon's"

My step mother used to spam that saying on me when I was young, but only recently it means something. We all get messed up in some way, and we have to face our issues head on, or they'll rule us for life.

I've come so far in the last few years, conquered a great deal of thing's, but there's one demon that I can't seem to overcome. I keep trying to face it but it is slippery like a fish, I think that my body has partnered up with this demon as well (I speak metaphorically)

I'm not even sure of a recovery process that work's, I've tried

    Church
    Prayer
    The Bible
    S.A
    Repentance (Turning around)
    Worship
    Charity (Serving other's)
    Singing
    Psychology
    Tarot Card's
    Counseling
    Confession

Nothing gets rid of this pesky demon

Argh! Mr. Heart what a mess.

The one word I picked up on more than any other is that you said you "tried." In truth, none of us has "tried" if we are not presently still trying. I think that is what is implied in the Bible telling us to hang in there (persevere) to the end.

ha, good point, when i hear ppl tell me they are going to try to quit smoking or whatever, i tell them to not even bother, trying will not work. i tried to quit meth for 20 years myself. Thank God for Rational Recovery imo

i guess these read as callous or cavalier or something, but a valid point is that when ppl admit to "trying," what they are really saying is that they plan on failing.

Henry Ford is credited with saying: "Whether we say we can, or whether we say we cannot, we are right."

Not all methods work for everyone, always, but we will never know if we don't keep doing everything, always

Well you got some religion mixed with some witchcraft mixed with biblical ignorance....sorry not trying to be insulting....so when you involve yourself with psychics and tarot cards you have opened a door into the spiritual realm unfortunately these spirits are not the nice ones....so you might want to repent of your involvement in this and then bind these seducing spirits/familiar spirits and command them to leave....or get your pastor to do it with you sense you don't know much about spiritual warfare.
    Praying for you!

No one knows the origin's of the tarot card's, but they're very old (From china most likely) I was studying the tarot before I moved to Christianity, so what, I had a lot of fun & helped more people with the tarot than I ever did as a Bible thumping Christian.

See the thing with most Christian's, is anything outside their world view is seen as a threat & considered demonic. But you can't actually prove there's a devil attached to which thing your decrying.

What if you're convinced you can do anything, is that worse than thinking you can't do anything. What's the middle ground here.

I said metaphorically, not that my issue is demonic.

i think it might be more about recognizing that trying is not doing, iow most ppl don't say "I'm going to quit smoking," they say "I'm going to try," thus allowing themselves room to worm later, revealing their true intentions

you might um...try fasting, i notice it wasn't on the list

Have you forgotten or did you ever know how Christians follow God?

I remember once with my wife at her brother's home using the tarot cards. It was in the early 1970's, before God called us to Him. There was power without doubt, but that power is in a place which God warns us to avoid at our peril. You say that we need to prove what it is or is not, but people who really love God and already following Him do not need such proof. We do live by faith rather than by proof. We need to know where our faith is and where it is not.

I know this. This is the problem that most people have with Christianity. Ghandi was not the first one nor is he likely to be the last one with that problem. The difficulty in not with Jesus, but with the ones who are supposed to be striving to be like him but only dirty up the name. They are quick to say others belong to a cult or to jump on the band wagon against JWs or Mormons or Muslims. But when it comes down to knowing what their own problems are they are often very ignorant, either don't know them or refuse to admit the possibility of their own errors.

Not everything is recommended to work, so long as you try your best.

So basically if any evidence was presented to you against your own belief system you'd ignore it in favour of faith? What about the process of trying to prove something wrong first before you accept it as right.
