    So what are ppl's favorite hymns?

    (I'll start: )

    "
    Blessed be God, our God,
    Who freely His beloved Son up gave
    His enemies to reconcile and save:
    Blessed be God, our God.

    He spared not His Son:
    'Tis this that bids the hard thought disappear,
    'Tis this that silences each rising fear,
    He spared not His Son.

    Who shall condemn us now?
    Since Christ has died, and risen, and gone above,
    For us to plead at the right hand of love,
    Who shall condemn us now?

    'Tis God that justifies:
    Who shall recall the pardon or the grace,
    Or who the broken chain of guilt replace?
    'Tis God that justifies.

    The victory is ours:
    For us in might came forth the Mighty One,
    For us He fought the fight, the triumph won,
    The victory is ours.

    Blessed be God, our God,
    Who gave for us His well-beloved Son,
    His gifts of gifts, all other gifts in one,
    Blessed be God, our God."

    (Horatius Bonar)

    "Abide with me, tis evening tide"--

    Abide with me; 'tis eventide.
    The day is past and gone;
    The shadows of the evening fall;
    The night is coming on.
    Within my heart a welcome guest,
    Within my home abide.

    [Chorus]
    O Savior, stay this night with me;
    Behold, 'tis eventide.
    O Savior, stay this night with me;
    Behold, 'tis eventide.

    Abide with me; 'tis eventide.
    Thy walk today with me
    Has made my heart within me burn,
    As I communed with thee.
    Thy earnest words have filled my soul
    And kept me near thy side.

    Abide with me; 'tis eventide,
    And lone will be the night
    If I cannot commune with thee
    Nor find in thee my light.
    The darkness of the world, I fear,
    Would in my home abide.

    I was a wandering hseep

    1 I was a wand'ring sheep,
    I did not love the fold;
    I did not love my Shepherd's voice,
    I would not be controlled.
    I was a wayward child,
    I did not love my home;
    I did not love my Father's voice,
    I loved afar to roam.

    2 The Shepherd sought his sheep,
    the Father sought his child;
    they followed me o'er vale and hill,
    o'er deserts waste and wild:
    they found me nigh to death,
    famished and faint and lone;
    they bound me with the bands of love,
    they saved the wand'ring one.

    3 Jesus my Shepherd is;
    'twas he that loved my soul,
    'twas he that washed me in his blood,
    'twas he that made me whole;
    'twas he that sought the lost,
    that found the wand'ring sheep,
    'twas he that brought me to the fold,
    'tis he that still doth keep.

    4 I was a wand'ring sheep,
    I would not be controlled;
    but now I love my Shepherd's voice,
    I love, I love the fold.
    I was a wayward child,
    I once preferred to roam;
    but now I love my Father's voice,
    I love, I love his home.

    Good hymn! (I think it would go to the tune 'For ever with the Lord'.)

    So here's 'Amazing Grace':

    "Amazing grace! how sweet the sound,
    That saved a wretch; like me!
    I once was lost, but now am found,
    Was blind, but now I see.
    2
    ’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
    And grace my fears relieved;
    How precious did that grace appear
    The hour I first believed!
    3
    The Lord hath promised good to me,
    His word my hope secures;
    He will my shield and portion be
    As long as life endures.
    4
    When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
    Bright shining as the sun,
    We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
    Than when we first begun."

    @Dave L Thanks for the 'like'; there are many time honoured lyrics of Biblical hymns of the faith which are stored in hearts and memories.

    1. Thou art the everlasting Word,
    The Father’s only Son;
    God manifestly seen and heard,
    And Heav’n’s belovèd one:

    Refrain
    Worthy, O Lamb of God, art Thou
    That every knee to Thee should bow.

    2. In Thee most perfectly expressed
    The Father’s glories shine;
    Of the full deity possessed,
    Eternally divine: [Refrain]

    3. True image of the Infinite,
    Whose essence is concealed;
    Brightness of uncreated light;
    The heart of God revealed: [Refrain]

    4. But the high mysteries of Thy name
    An angel’s grasp transcend;
    The Father only—glorious claim!—
    The Son can comprehend: [Refrain]

    5. Throughout the universe of bliss,
    The center Thou, and sun;
    Th’eternal theme of praise of this,
    To Heav’n’s belovèd one: [Refrain]

    Horace Allen is quoted saying in the Presbyterian Church how, "over the 19th Century people were led to the use of English hymns", that being over the Scottish Psalter, Psalter meaning an Arrangement of the words of the Psalms. And seeing as the Scottish Church likes Amazing Grace so much now, they're probably all in Korean hymns, ha!

    Most of the traditional ones, old gospel. And a few not considered hymns but I find spiritual.
    Word on a Wing

    Not familiar with alot of the newer stuff in this genre but have enjoyed the ones that have been posted on this site.

    "A perfect path of purest grace,
    Unblemished and complete,
    Was Thine, Thou spotless Nazarite,
    Pure, even to the feet.

    2. Thy stainless life, Thy lovely walk,
    In every aspect true,
    From the defilement all around,
    No taint of evil drew.

    3. No broken service, Lord was Thine,
    No change was in Thy way;
    Unsullied in Thy holiness,
    Thy strength knew no decay.

    4. The vow was on Thee—Thou didst come,
    To yield Thyself to death;
    And consecration marked Thy path,
    And spoke in every breath.

    5. Morning by morning Thou didst wake,
    Amidst this poisoned air;
    Yet no contagion touched Thy soul,
    No sin disturbed Thy prayer.

    6. Thus, Lord we love to trace Thy course,
    To mark where Thou hast trod,
    And follow Thee with loving eye,
    Up to the throne of God."

    And Jesus did all this NOT as the SON OF GOD, but as a man who yielded his heritage to walk among THEIR creation, suffering every infirmity we have, and bearing our sins for us, so that we might have our relationship with the FATHER restored both in our lives and in eternity. What LOVE, what COMPASSION, and what MERCY ...
