Fear GOD, Fear the LORD = Deuteronomy 6;13, Psalm 33;8, Matthew 10;22
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Deuteronomy 6;13
Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve Him, and shalt swear by His name.

Deuteronomy 10;20
Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; Him shalt thou serve, and to Him shalt thou cleave, and swear by His name.

I Samuel 12;14
If ye will fear the LORD, and serve Him, and obey His voice, and not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall both ye and also the king that reigneth over you continue following the LORD your God:

Psalm 33;8
Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.

Psalm 34;9
O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear Him.

Psalm 115;13
He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.

Proverbs 3;7
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

Proverbs 19;23
The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

Ecclesiastes 8;12-13
Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before Him: But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.

Ecclesiastes 12;13-14
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Matthew 10;28
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

I Peter 2;17
Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

Revelation 14;7,12
Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

AMEN

May I ask if you know what LORD means Maam? The first verse you posted would make much more sense if you didn't alter the passage. In other words, how can one call on or swear on God's name if one chooses not to use or reveal it?

When the KJV was written, approx. 400 years ago, if a child said that he feared his father, people would think, "Good, he respects and listens to him." Today, if a child says he fears his father, Child Protective Services may be called.
Over the centuries, the meaning of the word fear has changed. It appears to me that in an attempt not to change the word of God, it has actually changed, at least in this word. Many other translations have followed suit.
I do not fear God, though I do have a reverential awe and respect for him. Which I think Him for.

These things and more are why we must read and study and talk with God. We then are getting to know God and as we are getting to know Him, we are getting to know also the meanings God intends for us in what is written.

Remember the error of Abraham:

"Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.
And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing?
And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake." Gen 20:10-11

Often even with the best of intentions we err in our evaluation of others. We fail to understand what is in their heart. Indeed, what is the fear of the Lord?

There is a fear of God, but it's not a word that I want to use when I think about Him. His enemies should fear Him. He is, "The Dread Of Israel."
