34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. - John 8:34-36
What causes a Christian to do what they do? As far as learning Christ and living accordingly now as our wonderful Apostle Paul admonished believers to do. Like anything you choose to do it will come from your love for the Christ in you. Learning Christ in you is as easy as anything you don't do. You do not do certain things in this life not because you may feel it is sin but because it goes against who you are and the Christ in you. Love as we have talked about so many times as your motivation, keeps the believer.
What do you mean by that? There are things we don't do by shear respect for each other, and if you were to take that further you would say 'because of the love you have of the Christ in you and the whole of the Godhead.' I love my family and don't do certain things because I love my family, and taking that to the fullest is to tell the Lord this is why you don't do certain things in this life because you love Him more than you love yourself.
In Grace you find out how much you love the Lord or Christ in you. We are free and you can do anything you want but who do you love more-Christ in you or yourself. For some that is to much because they need more of a direction they feel like they need to be able to pin point what it is the Lord would require, I understand that and agree. But the bottom line is if you are going to be free you will have to come to the conclusion-if you are going to have pure freedom it will be based on your love for the Christ in you and you in pure relationship.
You must keep in mind Christianity is based on your love affair with the Christ in you and you. Jesus even said you cannot know the Father 'but by me,' pure love no strings attached. That is based on the knowledge of your freedom. Such as; should I do this or not, is this a sin, is this pleasing to the Lord, and so on. Loving the Christ in you more than loving yourself solves all those questions. Hallelujah!
