I’ve been studying prison in His word. And “midnight”. I don’t know, sometimes I wonder if I am still in a prison. Around me are countless people and they are held back by something. So, I woke up this morning heart broken and not even wanting to get up. Yesterday we received a call about a young man we tried to help get free from an addiction a year ago and we were told to look at the newspaper. There he was: a mugshot; arrested for possession and intent to sell. When he was found he had overdosed in the back seat and the ones he was with; carrying a car full of meth were no doubt about to dump his body somewhere rather that get caught with the drugs. Somebody, saw the car circling at night with suspicious behavior and called it in. When they approached the car...a little longer and the Narcan would have been pointless. I knew this boy(young man) years ago, wearing polos with a very bright future. Very Intelligent. he sat with us a year ago, sobbing...wanting so desperately to live but not knowing how to live. He almost had life. My husband and he spoke for days while he detoxed. my husband took him to a men’s facility and before we ever saw him again, he had called someone to come get him. I praised God all afternoon yesterday, CERTAIN God placed that person there at that exact moment that this boy’s heart stopped. There is no other explanation. It seemed weird to be so joyful last night while someone had just overdosed and is facing a literal prison now along with their spiritual prison but I was thankful. A verse that stands out to me: Acts 16:25 [25] And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
I pray the prisoners hear our prayers and praising of the Lord by night. So, I intend to stop complaining and start praising. Christ has torn the prison doors off and carried them up the hill. He has torn off the gates of hell. The prison door is open. He went in and brought those captive out. The question is; Why are so many remaining in a prison with an exit?
When you think about it, the Son paid for all mens sin: the prison door was opened then for All men through his blood(flesh). So again, why are prisoners choosing to stay in a prison when there is a door out...open? It is like animals held captive for so long, they can't even recognize an open door to freedom.
Revelation 4:1
[1] After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.
Don’t know if the animal video is appropriate, but I see people. Free from captivity...
