With Christmas coming up; I would like to share something. I have became somewhat tired with what Christmas has become. It is the birthday of Jesus, but often He is left out! So how do you give Jesus a birthday present? Jesus told us what he wants..... "what you have done to the least of these my brethren, you have done unto me"

I couple Christmases ago I wrote a poem based on Matthew 25:31-46 - that tells us exactly how to give Jesus His birthday present....

Jesus' birthday candles

Cough, Cough, goes the girl
sneeze, wheeze, goes the boy
Stay away, they may be sick
Go away, your no joy
One candle is gone
it has lost it's flick
Because of our fear
we stayed away from the sick

Those people got what they deserved
I'm now at peace, I am so glad
For in jail they can rot
'Cause what they did made me so mad
Candle number 2 flickered, then went out
Because of the wind, and it's gale
We were to happy, we were to glad
Instead of bringing God's love to those in jail

“I'm hungry, Do you have some food?”
With longing in his eyes, his arm stretched out
“I'm in a hurry, I'm late for church”
“No time to stop, or to give him a handout”
Candle number 3 is no longer burning,
In keeping it lit, we did not succeed
We were in a hurry, had no time to stop,
Even the hungry, we failed to feed

With parched lips, and a dry tongue,
She asked for something to drink
“I'm to busy” was the reply
“You have two legs, find the sink”
The fourth candle just died
Because we did not think
We were just to busy
To give a simple little drink

Yum, this Christmas meal sure is good
I know that the neighbor is alone this day
But Christmas is for family
Everyone else can stay away
Candle five just lost it's flame
This flaming fire, had been blown
'Cause of our selfishness
Christ's love was not shown

They come to you, clothing ripped
from off the street, there in your face
You push them away, for they stink
You run away, 'cause there in your space
The last candle burns no more
Yes, all the candles are out
We didn't help those in need
What Christmas is all about

When we bring Jesus His birthday cake
Will it be lit up, and bright
Or when He looks down at His cake
Will it be dark, the absence of light
This Christmas, help those in need
And light those candles with your good deed.

THE CHRISTMAS GIFT

As they deck their halls with holly
And put up their Christmas tree;
As they eat and drink till jolly
How many will remember me?

As they carve the big roast turkey
And fill their glasses once again;
As they pull their gaudy crackers
How many know about my pain?

As they sing their old-time carols
And gulp another brandy down;
As they sing about the manger
How many see my thorny crown?

As they open gift-wrapped presents
And organize a party game;
As they pig-out on the chocolates
How many know just why I came?

As you enjoy this festive season
And presents to your loved ones give;
As you light your Christmas candles
Know I died that you might live.

I write Jesus a birthday card and store it for his return. I used to bring a Christmas dinner to the homeless also. These are just some things a person can do to please Jesus perhaps.

My dream; I am not setup for that yet, but, it is to find a homeless person around Christmas time, bring them home to join my family and I for a Christmas meal and party; (I would even have a wrapped gift for him/her under the tree). Then after it is done, I would give them a choice; they can move in to our spare bedroom, and we would help them get a job, a place to live, and get back on there feet, and off the street: or they can go back to the street.

@Faithbuilders I like to remember 2 Corinthians 9.15: "Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift." :)

Jesus was clearly not born on Dec. 25th. Luke says Christ was born at a time when the shepherds were still outside in the fields with their sheep. Anyone who knows anything about being a shepherd in Judea would tell you that nobody in their right mind would be outside with their sheep in the dead of winter. There is plenty of biblical proof that Jesus was more likely born in September, especially because He was only 6 months younger than His cousin John the Baptizer.

There isn't a single thing about Christmas that honors the same Christ that told ancient Israel not to practice the ways of the Gentiles. There isn't a single passage in the Bible that says Christ was born on Dec. 25th, nor does any passage in the Bible shows Christmas being kept by any of God's followers. What it does show however, is God thoroughly condemning Christmas as another Satan-inspired festival that people in this world don't want to part ways with.
