He does however expect things from His friends as we do as well. He expects us to try to do things that He views as good, and to avoid things that He considers bad. But in order to be His friend, we need to know what things He thinks are good and bad.

Could you provide scriptures supporting such a requirement for knowledge? Are you not favoring using what has been eaten from the forbidden tree here? This is knowing without really knowing. We are to live by faith [Heb 11:1] because while we may know that both good and evil exist [Gen 3:22], we cannot except by faith in God come to His knowledge of the true difference between the two [Heb 11:6]. Living by the knowledge of men, I believe, will kill even the hope within us.

Well if you do not know the teaching of Christ in this area, then the Goats must be in leadership.

Your OP is prescriptive in the things that one should do rather than being relational and responding.

Thanks Gen, I would hope that the Bible supports all of my posts, because if they don't then there is a problem. If you ever observe one of my posts not, please corner me on it.

Not God the Father. Jesus has friends. And the Lord God of Israel (Jesus) had Moses for a friend. Not so the Most High.

Notice that Moses spoke to Yahweh (Jesus) face to face....but could only see the Most High (Yahweh Elyon) from behind.

Ex. 33:11 And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

Later in the same chapter we see another Lord....the Father...NOT allowing Moses to see His face.

Ex. 33:20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

Both the Lord of Israel (Jesus) and the Lord Most High (the Father) are in chapter 33 of Exodus. They are clearly delineated although the name is the same. The family name of God is Yahweh. Father and Son. Because of this most people get confused over who is being referred to.

Sure Amad, Knowing God is a requirement for survival upon Jesus' return:
(2 Thessalonians 1:8) . . .in a flaming fire, as he brings vengeance on those who do not know God and those who do not obey the good news about our Lord Jesus. Notice how obedience to Jesus' teachings are included.

In fact knowing God and Jesus is what everlasting life means, the first step of everlasting life is coming to know them, and how do we do that? By taking in knowledge from the Bible.
(John 17:3) . . .This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ.

    Thanks for asking sir

No doubt about it Jay. True Christians will know the voice of their master for sure. They will also teach all the things Jesus commanded as well, as that is actually the assignment Mat 28:20

When or what is Christ's return for a person who really have been born again/born from above? If Christ is already in a person, will he be returning to or for that person?

"To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:" Col 1:27

I thought we had discussed this some before and found this copy of a conversation here with @Backlit [brakelite2 at the time] a couple of years ago. I have posted it as it was in blue letters to distinguish the conversation of 2020 with that of today:

    Second Coming of the Lord?

    02-25-2020

    @Brakelite2

Do I need an education on this? I have heard a lot of people speak of a second coming, but I have seen something which has raised real questions in me. Jesus came in the womb of Mary as a child of flesh at Bethlehem. That was certainly His first coming, was it not when He came for everyone?

Then for me, in 1976, he came a second time entering my heart. Maybe there will be a more general coming of the Lord as people preach and teach but what will it matter to me if He stays in me and I stay in Him from here on out?

    Brakelite2 said:

You are correct in all those things, but they don't address the promises of life after the Resurrection at the second coming.
    KJV John 5
25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

    Amadeus said:
I was dead indeed, immersed in the things of a world of the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, but for me in 1976 the hour arrived, for me a second coming. I heard His voice and then I was resurrected, that is, brought to Life in a new birth. That is what a resurrection is, is it not?

    26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

And has not the Son also then given to me Life in myself?

27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

And has not my hour already come to hear His voice from the grave where I was in the death which had been mine since being born to my natural [carnal] mother? Have not others also heard His voice from their graves, their own places of death, and come into the Life which Jesus brought in abundance?

29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

Perhaps we can say this is after Jesus opened the Way, the Door to Life, but He did already do that, did He not? Why is anyone waiting for yet a 3rd coming if they have already received Him personally in a 2nd coming?

    KJV John 6
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

And is not the last day, the last day in our flesh alone, the day we passed from death to Life? Consider what Jesus says here:

"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?" John 11:25-26

From the moment I began to believe in Him was not the promise then mine, that I would never die? Not in some future moment, but now when I first really believe on Him! Is that not a 2nd coming for each of us? Is that not our resurrection? If not, why not?

While you, @bbyrd009 and @amadeus may focus on this life, in in one sense it is most crucial to do so for it we do not accept the life and character of Christ now, we will have no life or character to take with us into the next
    .

    Amadeus said:
    @ScottA @bbyrd009
Actually rather than focusing on this temporal life of mine in this flesh or some next time or place or even body, I believe that our focus should be always on Him the One we love because it is His kingdom and His righteousness without regard to location in some other physical place or time in some future. Now is always the time and today is always the day.

    Jesus says it thusly:

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." Matt 6:33-34

If we are always seeking His kingdom and His righteousness now, if we are always seeking His face now... what else is needful? Indeed what else should cause us concern? And remember also the words of David:

"When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek." Psalm 27:8

Now bbyrd often speaks of the"death more abundantly' as something not to be hoped for,

I believe @bbyrd009 in his eye catching manner is trying to get people to open their eyes as to what they focusing on when there really is something better, Life, in the Face of God, which is available now and here that is Not death. People looking always at "my salvation" and "my never ending life" later on instead of toward Him Now in effect are focusing on the abundant death in me in my flesh, instead of unending Life in Him:

"This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24

yet I suggest that the life to be looked forward to which is Eternal in the heavens and in the new Earth is the very one that offers us the greatest hope, and the one the world, which is groaning in travail under the corporate weight of sin and death, needs.

Again, why always looking forward to some nebulous future? Jesus said, "

"And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?" John 11:26

It does not say that beginning after while or when our allotted time in the flesh is over. He is speaking of Now that with belief in Him, whosoever will Never die! He was not speaking only of Martha!

    KJV 1 Corinthians 15
23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death....
    KJV 1 Corinthians 15
19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

I reemphasize here that to me, Christ has already come. The enemies to be put under His feet are any still remaining in me!

"She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table." Prov 9:2
The antecedent for the pronoun, "she" is wisdom found in the immediately preceding verse. The beasts to be killed are found here:

"For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world." I John 2:16

Jesus took away the sin, but the ways leading back to sin are the "beasts" in us and need to be killed: "the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life"

The hope is Christ in this "life" only speaks of the hope in this flesh life without Christ. With Christ alive in us, we have Life, unending Life and we have it Now... not again in some nebulous hereafter. Forget about tomorrow! Focus on Him today!

That is the problem, you present prescriptive teaching, instead of empowering them to become intimate disciples of Christ by planting them in the fertile field of Christ and trusting that Christ will draw them into His loving Embrace and providing the teaching that they need to know as He intimately nourishes them in His words of life.

It is all foolishness when we seriously focus on "the How" we can get into God's Everlasting Kingdom rather than being involved in His everlasting Kingdom Now.

Recently, I provided the funds to provide for ten poor families in a poor third world countries. About the same sort of money that I would have spent on a new top of the range bed for myself and my wife.

I became involved in God's Everlasting kingdom here on the earth now, without waiting for God to establish His Kingdom in our near future. In supplying their needs to re-establish what the Locusts had taken from them because of the pandemic, I feed the poor, clothed them and gave them hope in their future in Christ. I did not provide idle words for them to follow and comply with. I showed them God's Love by sharing what God had given me to use for His Glory.

In my giving I had to trust God for my own provisions. I had to trust that God would have on the Ground in that third world country disciples that would nurture the respective families who had received my gift in the ways that they should go. That they would all pick up my banner of blessing and pass it onto the people around them from God's provisions for them.

What we need to instil in people is God's heart for them and for the people living around them in the now and let the future take care of itself, them and us.

I do recognize where you are coming from. Jesus offers us abundant life now, today, through the power of a life changing gospel. And that life is becoming more and more needful as the planet degenerates into an increasingly perplexing and evil moral wasteland.
Yet that same life changing gospel is also a prophetic gospel, an everlasting gospel, that compels people to repent today, immediately, because time is short. This life... This world... Is coming to a furiously rapid end, and this human race is on a short notice. The events that are overtaking the world are rapidly coming to a climax of ideological, political, and occult global disaster which will result in the deaths of millions and the close of human probation. Those in Christ remaining alive at Christ's soon coming will witness a resurrection of all the righteous from all ages. This coming of Christ is a cosmic event that will surpass the flood in magnitude and has been the focal point of all prophecy since creation. To claim He has already come and not to be focusing on the future is to deny scripture.
    KJV Revelation 14:6-20
6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.
9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.
15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.
17 And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.
18 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.
19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

This planet came with a time stamp and a used by date.
The Sabbath marked it's beginning, the desecration and trampling of the Sabbath is marking it's end.[/QUOTE]

Hi EP, the Bible teaches Jehovah is God, and Jesus is His son sir.

We believe God's voice has been heard from heaven at least 2 times, His literal voice. But we do not believe Jehovah has ever personally interacted with humans on earth. He does so through His representatives that He sends. I fully understand why you think otherwise however. And that account really makes it appear that Jehovah came to Moses personally, but we believe it was an angel. We believe it was an angel that contended with Jacob as well. It is one of those things that will have to be answered in the future to be absolutely understood.

I understand why you would think that Jesus isn't God. The scriptures must be read as they are written, however. The bible records that Yahweh was the friend of Moses...not some angel. Would you have God be an angel. When there is an angel of the Lord the bible says that. When a person says...God visited me...it says that. Never are the two confused but in the mind of a reader who is careless in his/her reading.

Also..Jehovah is not the right way to translate the Hebrew word for the Lord. When the Jews put in the vowel markers under the name they did it to sound out "Adonai". The mistake English speakers made was in thinking that the vowel markers actually corresponded to the letters so that they sounded out...Je-ho-vah. And the Jews are not going to correct obvious errors of people who know that Gentiles don't have a clue regarding the Torah.

So we express our ignorance in this way. But if we want to be a light to the Jews....we have a LOOOONG way to go.

Anyhoo...Jesus Christ IS God. He IS Yahweh. He is the Lord God of Israel.

I could show you much more on this but you need to get the basics down first.

For others who are interested in understanding how YAHWEH is used in the Bible
יהוה there are the passages in Deut, that show how Jesus was given Israel as His inheritance from His Father.

Deut. 32:8 "When the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.(DSS records the sons of God)

9 For the Lord's (Jesus) portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance."

The Most High (Elyon) is the Father. The Lord (Yahweh) who is Jesus received Israel as His inheritance. The Father gives His Son rulership over Israel. Do you understand how Jesus is the king of the Jews? The devil was mocking the elevated status of Jesus by making him an earthly king rather than an eternal one.

Jesus is and always was the Lord. The Father has always been the Lord Most High.

Thank you for your generous sacrifice for others Jay, that is very thoughtful and kind of you, truly. We need more like you sir. I very much agree with you, citizens of the Kingdom must live the faith now, not wait until they know for sure. Like Jesus said about those who failed to take note until the flood came and swept them all away, we need to identify God's people now, and go with them. Zech 8:23

As far as taking care of others, we don't have to worry about it. Jesus puts our mind to ease in Mat 6 showing that God guarantees that He will provide for His people sir v33. Like the Psalmist said, I have found this to be very true. Ps 37:25. Do you know of any Christian on the face of the earth that does not have their needs, as I am unaware of any sir.
