proverbs 4:20-22
My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

If we really believe the Word of God is medicine, then let us take Him at His word

Many people find it difficult to believe that God wants them well. They may be suffering personally or perhaps watching a loved one endure sickness and pain. In either case, they become discouraged after their prayers seemingly go unanswered. They then conclude that God must be allowing this to happen, or worse, that He has caused it. Both are wrong and both bring into question the goodness of God.

If God wants us well, then he failed Paul badly.

Many people find it difficult to believe that God wants them well.
This is hardly the key Gospel doctrine, and if Christians don't buy this it is for a good reason.

God is more concerned about the soul and spirit, and their relation to God and Christ, than about the mortal body which is subject to sickness, disability, death, and eventual decay into dust -- "the bondage of corruption".

And many fine Christians have been allowed to be sick or disabled even though they are serving God faithfully. However the Resurrection/Rapture is promised to all believers, at which time they will be perfected in their bodies, souls, and spirit.

The health and wealth preachers are misleading thousands of gullible Christians, since that is not the heart of Gospel truth or Bible truth. Indeed Christians have been promised trials and tribulations, including sickness and disability.

I would not try to tell Jesus that those stripes He took were all for nothing.
4Surely He took on our infirmities and carried our sorrows; yet we considered Him stricken by God, struck down and afflicted. 5But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5
Do you really believe Jesus suffered and died so that everyone could and would be healthy and wealthy in the flesh and material goods? This time given to each of us is short and has a purpose... and it is not to tickle our own flesh although at times some of us may receive material blessings. Most of us have more time allotted to us than the man Jesus who had only 33½ years with a very painful end.

Most of us have more time allotted to us than Stephen the first named martyr after the out pouring of the Holy Ghost in Acts 2. Where was the mansion of Stephen? Where was his lovely wife and family in the flesh? Those with eyes to see, see the blessings of Stephen but people in and of this world are blind to them.

By his stripes we are healed spiritually as he did not die for our body but for our spirit to be made whole.

You have what you believe for and accept.
Jesus paid a very high price so that you need not be sick, and in need. But your choice!!

Surely He took on our infirmities and carried our sorrows; yet we considered Him stricken by God, struck down and afflicted. 5But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5

Jesus paid the price to open the Way for us... but the Way is NOT a bed of roses with no thorns:

"Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is." I John 3:2

What is Jesus like and when and how do we start making the approach to this likeness? Do we really suppose that we are to slide through this natural carnal life with a silver spoon in our mouths until they throw the dirt over our faces and then we will all of a sudden be in a beautiful place of wonder? I think not! We have a road to walk and it is not to be free of thorns and briers and mud and suffering and persecution:

"Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Matt 5:10

"Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me." John 15:21

If that is the case, why does Creflo Dollar have to appeal for money to buy his $65 million dollar Jet. It must mean he does not have much faith if you have what you believe for.

On a personal note when I was at bible college, I went up north during the holiday to give some help to a mission organisation. From there I was going south to minister at a youth camp.

I had enough money to get me to London but not enough to get me from London to Basingstoke where the camp was. One of the mission leaders gave me a lift to the train station to get the train to London, not knowing anything about my financial circumstances. I knew that I was in God's will going to Basingstoke to the camp, so I was very relaxed whilst we sat and talked waiting for the train.

When the train arrived, we shook hands and said goodbye and as we did he gave me an envelope for which I thanked him. On the train I opened it and it was sufficient money for the train fare from London to Basingstoke.

I got what I believed for and I didn't have to ask anyone to bail me out.
