Goodnight Irene, written by Huddie Ledbetter and John Lomax in 1933.

This song is dedicated to all the heartbroken in our world, the troubled, the restless and the outcast.
May you have peace, love and happiness!!!

The song was written long before I was born [1943]... but I remember it. My mother had a stack of 78 RPM vinyl records including that one which as a little boy I listened to on the phonograph. My mother has been gone for many years now and her records were gone long before that, but when I hear one of those old songs, like this one, it touches my heart. Thank you for reviving it here. I really enjoyed hearing you sing it.

Hi Rene,
Thank you, I just speak what I think is good and true.
I could not find this video or any of your others on YT.
I did find the original singer "Leadbelly" but your version is so much smoother.

Are there more?

I love it!

I listened...................
Love your originals, just can't decide if I like " You and Me or Like a Child" best.

You are a true crooner.
I love music, I guess bc I can't sing at all.

My favorite music genre is Doo Wop. I like music from the 40's forward, even some of today's pop artist like Halsy and Pink.

Music is powerful ! If ppl just shared in music we might all get along.

I'm looking forward to heaven for then ALL will be unity and peace.Plus there I will be able to sing........lol

Never lay down nor bury you marvellous talent.

Hi LAMB,
Love your comments!!!
I am so pleased to hear that you were able to listen to some of my original compositions.
Love of music does not require the ability to sing, but you are right, in heaven, the choirs must be sounding heavenly!!!
Doo Wop is absolutely lovable music genre, mine is folk rock, and I love James Taylor, America, Bee Gees, Eagles, and the great music of the 60s and 70s.
I also love the much older classic songs of the 30s and 40s as well.
Thanks for your love and inspiration.
Respectfully,
Rene

Hi Rene,
It is written that Lucifer had great pipes as well as beauty, shame he wanted to be above God.

Yes I like folk too, also big band.,boogie, reggae, instruments, classical ,70's , 80's, old rock, some new pop, old country, some disco don't care for rave or techno, nor RAP.
I'm not a fan of James Taylor, loved Carly Simon, Chicago, Bread, Logo ect

Notice how the Doo Woo era was a very mixed group of singers ,most were multi- ethnic. Neil Sadaka was Lebonese, Paul Anka Jewish.

Do you remember the old coke a cola commercial " I'd like to teach the world to sing"? Brought ppl together.

I was an Army brat so we mixed with all kinds of ppl and I learned just that, all ppl are just ppl.

Sports crosses old boundaries also, has since Babe Ruth and Jesse Owens, however I'm not a sports fan....lol

If you're in the USA, have a safe long weekend.

Blessings LAMB

Hi LAMB,
Happy Memorial Day!!!
I do remember the Coke commercial, and love that jingle, and song!!!
You are correct, ppl are ppl, and we are all connected.
We have a lot of differences, and all we need is a little bit of intro and taste of each other's culture.
The food is a great ice breaker!
I am in PacNorWest, and US Navy is my bloodline.
Stay safe and enjoy this weekend.
Regards and Happy Remembrance to your Army family!!!
Respectfully,
Rene
