Hey MatthewG and St. Steven, please tell me, does Jesus come to rule for 1,000 years?

In reading the scripture it says that Jesus will rule for 1,000 years. However, many say it's not to be taken literally. Honestly, I have no idea but I trust your discernment.

What please, is your understanding? Thank you.

I have always taken the Millennium as a literal 1,000 years. For what it's worth.
But who's calendar?

The Bibliolators might argue that it is only one day. - LOL

2 Peter 3:8 NIV
... With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

I would also agree that we should take the scriptures literally first, unless there is good reason to look at it figuratively. But perhaps there is only the literal interpretation for the 1,000 years.

What do those who don't take it literally say about it then?

There are a few threads on that topic. Somewhat, what I get from deniers is they say, Scripture says no such thing. ?? Blind, Puzzling...Can’t say how they conclude, except to ignore.

Right.
Revelation chapter twenty says it repeatedly.

  • Revelation 20:1

    The Thousand Years

And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain.

  • Revelation 20:2
He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.

  • Revelation 20:3
He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.

  • Revelation 20:4
I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

  • Revelation 20:5
(The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection.

  • Revelation 20:6
Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.

  • Revelation 20:7

    The Judgment of Satan

When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison

I did a search for topics with "thousand years" in the title. Link below.
Many claim there are two thousand year periods, the binding and the reigning.
Verses 6-8 seem to refute this. See bold below.

Revelation 20:6-8 NIV
Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.
7 When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—and to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore.

It’s a full circle of sorts if you chart the history of man, from natural birth, ignorant of God, Powerful Demonic presence influence for 6,000 years, the few grasping adherence to last 2,000 years of Powerful Holy presence, the Removal of Demonic presence influence, 1,000 years of express Righteous influence, harmony among men, nations, and the reintroduction of Demonic presence, how quickly Demonic influence of Deception for Gain, intrigues and tickles the ears of human men.

It is mans nature to have necessary needs for his family and self.
It is Demonic influence to devise plots, scams and trickery to confiscate an others needs.
Men OF this world, busy themselves effecting such plots, scams and trickery, with Flowery words of duty, honor and trinket awards for participation.

Demonic influence released after 1,000 years, WILL BE the ultimate war of wars, when the whole world’s nations come AGAINST Christ’s Jesus’ Kingdom (which IS, the borders of Abraham’s Promised Land), and King Christ Jesus who IS seated (IN king David’s everlasting Throne), in Jerusalem.

War on Land, all nations of men Against Christ’s Kingdom.
War in the Air, all demonic angel’s Against Christ the Lords Holy Angels.

Wars to END ALL wars...effected BY “the two edged sword” which IS the WORD of God (Jesus), and the POWER of God (Christ).

(Warring and quickly triumphing over machined made armor and weapons of men.)

Yes, there IS a one thousand year reign of Christ Jesus, IN His Earthly Kingdom, IN His Throne, with His Saints and Righteously ruling over Nations of mortal men, VOID of Demonic influence....Ending with Demonic reintroduction into the World of Nations of mortal men....who such mortal men, once again Fall for the ear tickles of GAIN by Deceptive means.

Gods PLAN SHALL prevail.
6 thousands years of mankind, divided amongst themselves.
1 thousand years of harmony among mankind.
Ending the 7 thousands years, divided men; with God and against God...
Separated one from the other.
All demons and men against God...removed from the face of the Earth forever.
A restored Earth.
A righteous City (Jerusalem) comes down from Heaven.
All holy celestial angels and holy terrestrial men occupy their renewed estates;
Heaven and Earth, with the division (firmament) removed, betwixt the two (Heaven and Earth)...and the Saying, as it is IN Heaven, so also shall it BE ON Earth IS manifested.

Glory to God,

Multiple things are occurring on land, in the land, on the seas, in the seas, in the air, in heaven..at, during the the same ONE time frame.

Not sure how some, as you say are concluding a 2,000 yr time frame.

Revelation 20:6-8 NIV

I wouldn’t trust me on anything.

The 1,000 years equates the fullness of time;

I believe if John had mentioned a quicker time also that he would’ve said Nero, rather than the beast if his letter was caught by someone I don’t believe the message would’ve reached the the first Christians, who were part of the great tribulation, and recused out by his return, as the wrath of God fell on Jerusalem, for having killed the son of God.

I don’t believe in a delusion, but I believe in reality that Jesus Christ did come in the flesh and those who were seeking waiting and watching, saw him come, and that’s it for me. In 70Ad. No ands ifs or buts.

Either Jesus was a liar, and his apostles were lying, and can’t be trusted if he never came to those people, but he promised in a generation to come.

Is that the Amillennialism view?
