Hi folks, I'm just wondering what you guys think of people like Uri Gellar, Sylvia Browne, and others who claim to have psychic powers.Do you think they're being truthful?

Psychic powers? No, The Word of God doesn't need psychic powers, It's much placed in a category with familiar spirits.

I'd say 99.9% of these people are conartists and tricksters. However, I do believe that a certain percentage may very well be the familiar spirits trying to deceive by letting some people glance in on the future - or at least that is what they think.Leviticus 19:31 Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.

I don't think anyone living or dead / evil spirits or angels can ever predict our future. No one has such power or wisdom but only Lord our God.Psychics I believe are intelligent, who can do 2 x 2 much faster than average people.

I agree with you no living person can predict our future. If they do try to claim that they can see people's future is a liar...It is not of God, but of this world.Lovest thou in Christ Jesus (Yahshua) our Lord and Saviour.

If psychic powers do exist, why is it no psychic has ever claimed James Randis million-dollar prize for PROVING they exist?MILLION DOLLAR CHALLENGE - http://www.randi.org/research/Excerpt - "At JREF, we offer a one-million-dollar prize to anyone who can show, under proper observing conditions, evidence of any paranormal, supernatural, or occult power or event"

I do. In fact I messed around a bit before I became a true Christian. I was confused and such. Anyway, there are proof that you can channel energy through your body. This energy could be use to create a whole bunch of stuff. And out of body experiences are also psychic phenomena. It's actually called Psionics. Fortunately, I quit all of that junk.Check out these websites:http://www.sanraal.nl/magic/psi-pow5.htmhttp://www.psc-online.org/http://www.upconline.net/http://www.astralsociety.com/http://www.fork-you.com/http://www.dimensional-doorways.com/http://labs.megatroniconline.com/Educational Sources:http://www.noetic.org/http://www.dina.kvl.dk/~abraham/psy1.htmlI wouldn't really call it magic. But I would call it sorcery (if it exists in the Bible, it exists in real life).Have you ever had a lucid dream? That's a psionic ability. http://www.dreamviews.com/

how bout CHRIS ANGEL, HE PULLS QUarters out of his arm=its amazing!
Don't be amazed at a little old trick. Don't even be amazed by him. All he is is a nose full of air. He could die any minute if it wasn't for God being the one who provides the air. :naughty:

I really am undecided about this topic. I always thought it was a bunch of hooey, honestly. I also believe that some people believe they have psychic powers but it could be the word of God coming through to them and they are misinterpreting it. Now I am really new, and have a lot to learn so please everyone don't rip me to shreds over this! LOL

Well, I don't think you can just accuire these special gifts by yourself. I think it may be a fallen one working in you. But I can be wrong. Just think about Pharaoh and his magicians when Mosses came to free his people.

ok, here are my thoughts on this for what it is worth. I believe in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I believe that there is a Spirit rhealm, and that there are Spirits which are of God and spirits which are not. you can read time and again of such spiritual forces in scripture, such as the evil spirits posessing various people and Jesus casting them out etc. Both exist and both are recognised by Jesus and written about in scripture. to continue on the thread, i think that people who are not communicating with the Holy Spirit may be communicating with spirits not of God. Just as the Holy Spirit is able to reveal things to us, that we can know the mind of Christ, i think that spirits not of God can reveal things to humans who have a spiritual awareness, but they are certainly not knowing the mind of Christ. They are 'tapping into a spirit' where there may be a truthful knowledge, but if it is not for God it is against God and i personally don't want to open myself up to unGodly influences such as this. Satan is out to deceive, steal and destroy from the freedom and fulness of life which God wants us to know . We can see in Genesis 3, which is the account of Adam and Eve, and it is specifically about when satan tempted Eve, lied to her and deceived her. It all started by satan getting along side her and communicating. She spoke back and 'entertained' in her mind the reality and questioned the truth of God because of the subtle digs which satan used. Satan tends to work in similar ways today. He will come along side and make us question the truth of Gods word. 'did God really say???' If we entertain these thoughts and allow him to have a foot in our thinking, he is cunning and we suddenly find ourselves in false teaching and not sure how we got there. Gods word does say we are not to 'go there', just as God told Eve not to go there. There clearly is a false truth which satan is deceiving people with, coaxing them in, trapping them and deceiving them. the choice is ours. Do we go against Gods best for us which He has given us in His word, or do we choose to enquire of ungodly places where people are enquiring of spirits not of God and who ultimately are trying to destroy, steal and trap us in the clutches of satan with a truth initialy but which if we are not fully testing and discerning, we will be led down a path which will harm and lead to death? if Satan used things which were clearly false and humanly speaking we could easily discern as wrong, then that would deter people instantely. it has to be truth to start with to coax people in. As the world continues, i personally think that if we are aware of this, we will see the ways satan is moving in our land and in the direction humanity is going. God is victorious though and we can chase after God and enquire of Him and His plans and will for our lives.

I do agree that God is the only one who knows the future but there are times when he will use prophets to let some things according to one's future be known. So what is the difference between physics and prophets? One's led by evil and one's led by God, and why is it there are some who claim to be physcic and some claim to be prophets? Do you think physics are callings gone wrong, and if so how? That women sylvia claims to be very in tune with God but a lot of things she says I myself don't see it, but I am not God to judge what she sees and what she doesn't. It's a very confusing topic, as is death. Where do we go when we die? So many say out of the body present with the Lord, but is that really the case when observing and meditating scripture? How can one die and be judged and go to heaven or hell when there is only one set judgement day that even Jesus said only the father knows? So if we have an appointed time to be judged how can anyone enter heaven or hell before the appointed time?

The bible says the sign of a true prophet is they are 100% accurate 100% of the time I dont know of a physic that can claim that and prove it. So if you are not 100% correct you are not a prophet of God which is not to say that God cant send each and everyone of us a message. Even if its just that quite little voice inside that says dont get on that plane, or simlular things

I think there is the danger that Christians could dismiss a prophet out of hand and label them psychic/medium etc when they may well be a prophet.Prophecy as revealed in revelations has not happened yet so how can it be judged as 100% accurate 100% of the time.
