is not a tattoo what happens in a castle where men wearing skirts and blowing into bags and beating skins and march in precision?

I think the origin of the word to do with the Edinburgh one is soldiers who marched in Holland to the words 'tap toe' / 'tap two'.
Thought you may all like some bagpipes at the military tattoo, so here you go.
