Haha! So my brother and myself are not 'normal' then?

So by majority rule it makes it "right" and "normal"!!? Phtt.

That thinking will lead you down some rabbit whole Dave take care, it is a fleshly belief not a spiritual belief! So, Jesus in His walk was not 'normal'..so by your book He was wrong and majority right!! Yikes.

Take care in your thinking Dave.

Just saying "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" assumes that axiom is a reliable gauge for the norm.

Wadr You think you are balling, but you are fat, sick, and nearly dead (paraphrased) is what immediately springs to mind there

    BE TRUE to yourself.
In short, make a stand and be content in your standing whether or not others agree with you. There is no accountability to you, but for what YOU yourself stands for.

Then the logic is...to what degree will you continue to tolerate and subject yourself to poor behavior against you.

    Glory to God,

This is interesting when you actually do more than just a casual reading of each of these.
    1. “Treat others as you would yourself be treated.” — Hinduism
    2. “What you yourself hate do to no man.” — Judaism
    3. “Hurt not others with that which pains you.” — Buddhism
    4. “Do unto all men as you would wish to have done.” — Islam
    5. “Live in harmony, for we are all related.” — Native American
    6. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” — Christianity
I have, on my computer, a list of a lot more, but it is way too big to post here (2,065 words... what is shown here is just 61 words)

    Hi H ~

The weirdo's, (if you will) will be called the Lords People...:):):)

    Deut. 14
[2] for thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.

    You have missed the point...

The golden rule is not about preference, it's about common social behavior. Now if you had said that the golden rule would dictate that those who know me should be considerate of my wishes and not make a big deal out of my birthday, as I would also do in consideration of them and their wishes...then it is not a matter of preference or taste, but of common consideration of others.

Jesus didn't originate the golden rule anyway.

Of course He did, He is God. There would be no golden rule without God

Nope because without God there is no man. If no man no golden rule, the golden rule is how to treat each other. Treat each other with love.

It actually doesn't teach you anything. Making a statement about what people should do is not the same as how they will do.

I couldn't really return to a belief system that requires me to love something I simultaneously fear, it's a repeat the cycle of abuse. The reason I fell into Christianity is that the God of the Bible had all the hallmarks of my step father, and it was natural to believe that was the relationship I needed. But I didn't need it, I needed to know that I was valued and my idea's were as important as other people. Which never came from the God of the bible or my step father.

I'll stick with the few...reminds me of King David and the cave of Adullam where all the misfits joined him...and became a strong army! :)

    Thanks...good post...

Ah, first you misunderstand the word that was mistranslated fear. It is not fear but respect. Secondly it's not God you have the problem with it is your step father and how he treated you, how he presented God to you. I can tell from your many post all these ideas that you have about God are wrong and I can also see that you are not in a place yet to accept the real truth because you keep trying to shoot it down. I am not trying to be mean or rude, I am just saying what I get from your post. You were abused and mistreated so you blamed a god that was not real and thought he was the God and that this god did not live up to the hype.

I can not really help much anymore but I can ask if you would talk to God and than find out that He is not an abusive God like your step father was, I am truly sorry this happened to you and will remember you at Mass on Sunday
