16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. - Romans 1:16.
The power of Christianity is in the cross. Death, Burial, Resurrection, and the Ascension. The cross is the fixing of humanity in spirit. It takes out the old, and places in the new. In spirit - do you know what happened at the cross for the soul - nothing - absolutely nothing. What is meant by that is; the miracle is in spirit and the soul/mind goes untouched spiritually at the cross. There is nothing that can be done for the mind at the cross. The reason there is nothing to be done for the mind spiritually is; because it needs the same unique expression it was created to be - in the image and likeness of God.
You, your individuality in the image and likeness of God. The creation of God that was misused from the beginning in Adams disobedience, can now replace the old with the new. It is not just a change humanity needed it was an exchange of sin for righteousness. We we were sold under sin and bought back by righteousness. The new has prevailed over the abounding sin humanity was held captive to.
How does identification play into Christianity since identity is a knowing (which is soulish - no miracle at the cross for mind).
The all powerful words we have heard since we have been born again which is; mind renewal. You are a new creation with a new identity absolutely completed by Jesus Christ at the cross the moment you believe, but you do not know that. Not when you were first born again, you may have had wonderful experiences, lot of things going on around you, and your mind was touched by the experiences of something happening - I am a Christian now, but basically you did not know what that meant.
No one does - so the renewing of the mind begins and the proper teaching for an individual to be led into mind renewal and understanding is so very important because this world is a schoolhouse and in this schoolhouse there is training for the children of God. Your father birthed you and he would like for you to know something about that, and so the process begins molding and the making of a son. The scriptures say "until Christ be formed in you" will take on a reality. You see that is a mind transformation because - the moment you believed, you received Christ in his fullness, in spirit not soul/mind. You didn't receive a part of him, in a piece here and a piece there. You receive the completed Jesus Christ that died and rose again. Scripture says "you are complete in him," that is spirit. But your mind does not know that.- It is like the mind is always catching up to the facts of what God has done because we just don't know until he teaches you.
The prodigal son comes to mind because; 'a certain man had two sons' the one son decided in himself to ask for his inheritance and he left his father's house and went and spent all he had - all his inheritance. But the day came when he decided - he came to himself, when he could take no more living out of his father's house and said "if I could only get back to my father's house."
He had a mind change, he had a mind change to leave his father's house - but he came to himself and had a change in mind to get back to his father's house where there was provision for life, and for living that life. His mind was changed, renewed to never leave the father's house again and be the obedient son he was birthed to be.
As the old song says "in my father's house."
