So this is a truth designed to push your faith, a little. The point is not that words give power, but that what they give power to has great meaning. And what is the use of "great meaning", it is able to sift out the weaknesses in your belief and give them strength, that is, through character. So what specific character does making light foundation take? Or what does having the universe as a footstool give? The answer is that all scripture is universal and a foundation of light, is a foundation in all places. In other words, understanding this is able to give wisdom that drives out darkness and that coming back to God, in the light, is able to reveal all works done to His Glory - which in turn inspires works to His Glory.
What did Jesus say? "While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light" (John from memory) - this tells us that we are able to have a foundation of light, within ourselves and that being accountable to light, makes us as "Sons of Light". The point is that you can take this further: you can become a "son of light" wherever you go, if light goes before you, you will always have that light as a foundation. So what you start in as son, can become man and then god of light. This is building on the foundation of light. Indeed there is work to be done in the light, so that the more time we spend in light, the more easily we get it done. Surely, the Lord is waiting for this. As He says "the field is already ripe for harvest" (John 4:35), in a sense there is no part dark, in that field.
So how do we go about the work, of the light? By reminding ourselves that the universe is our footstool! When Jesus spoke, He revealed things not known from the foundation of the world (OT & NT references), in other words He drew on the rest the universe gave Him, to speak of things that are declared in the Heavens. Now that we have those words, keeping the universe as a footstool, causes us to have rest in the things of Heaven, for the sake of the works, that can be done for them and by them. This is a powerful restraint! We know that whereever we go, we will have rest and rest in the things of Heaven, as long as the universe is kept as our footstool. Our words will echo Him and His Words! There is a great resistance to temptation and sin, in this fact, which is something that will keep us in good health and high spirits for as long as we live. Imagine believing this proverb for the rest of your life: nothing could conquer you! Nothing could keep you from the Love of God.
