GINOLJC. good start, but Genesis 1:1 have nothing to do with God, as in any beginning for him. no, the beginning at Genesis 1:1 is his creation. and the word void here simply means empty or formless, hence nothing was not yet made or formed.

there's another topic like this one on the book of beginning. in Genesis 1:1, God the elohiym, is this a plurality of himself, (meaning he alone) or someone else "with" him. the correct answer will sets the stage for the understanding of the whole entire bible, (Old and New testaments). the correct answer will also reveal the one and only true God in his three administration or dispensation in both testaments, as Father and Son. well, one must start somewhere, and Genesis 1:1 is a good place to start.

btw lest I be suspected/accused of not knowing my Christianity - know what has not been taught or understood at Gen 1:1-2 is that the earth was a lump = formless = the earth as we know it was formed later and was void of adornments such as animals, birds, fishes, plants, fruits, veg ,forests, trees, humans or sun, moon and stars ,wind, rain, clouds etc - twinc

In the begining God. From this we learn that God exists before everything began.
God is spirit and does not live in the universe he has created.
God created time, space, energy and matter. He organised them, producing stars, planets, plants and animals etc on earth.
Part of that organising was the formation of what we call 'Laws of Science' that govern or explain how energy and matter react.

As it says elsewhere, He made, there was not anything made that he did not make.

Paul pointed to the first law of thermodynamics, that matter cannot create nor destroy itself.

"things which are seen" - our material world
"were not made of things which do appear" - material world not made BY matter.

That law of thermodynamics proves the existence of The Creator.

Simply, matter cannot create itself, so something OUTSIDE & SEPARATE from material matter had to create matter.

That something we as believers on The Heavenly Father, His Son, and The Holy Spirit, we call GOD.
