Whether Jesus is truly divine or a wooden totem pole is essentially trivial
seeing as how either way we have to regard him as totally in charge of
everything and everybody; and fully deserving of our compliance and our
genuflecting just as Joseph was in Egypt.

Gen 41:42-44 . . And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it
upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a
gold chain about his neck; and he made him to ride in the second chariot
which he had; and they cried before him: Bow the knee! and he made him
ruler over all the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am
Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land
of Egypt.

Isa 52:13 . . My servant will prosper; he will be high and lifted up, and
greatly exalted.

Dan 7:13-14 . . In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was
one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the
Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory
and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language
worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass
away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.

Phil 2:9-11 . . God highly exalted him, and bestowed on him the name
which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should
bow, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and
that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of
God the Father.

For example: though Joseph wasn't the actual Pharaoh, his position was so
high up in Egypt that even his own brothers respected him as if he was.
(Gen 44:18)

In other words: as far as we and everything and everybody else in the
cosmos are concerned, Jesus is at least God to us if nowhere else, i.e.
whether he's actually God or not makes no difference seeing as how it is he
to whom we are all accountable (Acts 17:31) Jesus wields all the power and
authority of God-- standing in the place of God, speaking for God, and
speaking as God, and acting for God and as God. Consequently failure to
respect Jesus as if he were God demeans the glory of God the Father; and
the way some go about undermining Jesus' sanctity is just downright
unacceptable.
