Jesus was crucified on a cross and mocked openly by the rulers of his time, which were some Jews and some Romans, in defiance of his place as Son of God and part of God. Jesus gave up the ghost and died and descended into the heart of the earth and 3 days later ascended out of spirit prison, then raised his body back to life and witness to people that he conquered all of that then ascended to heaven. And at that time Michael and his angels fought against the Dragon and his angels. The dragon and his angels were cast out. And the apostles witnessed Satan coming down from heaven like lightning.

John 3:11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? 13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

The term lifted up in the above text does not only appear to relate to a cross, but more the entire work of Jesus the Christ. I know some churches use a cross and some even have Jesus carved on top of that cross. Do they relate that to the likeness to Moses' serpent lifted up and being healed in some way? I wonder.

When I accepted the new understanding that went beyond the crosses churches used, and accepted the entire idea of Jesus' work, I felt that God healed my soul of some part that needed healing.

I had heard some confusing language from somebody that made a wrong belief somehow believable. And I was able to now move past that incorrect doctrine.

Nehushtan (Strong’s #5180 = “a thing of brass”)

“Ge 1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.” Gen 1:31

Ge 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? Ge 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

Ge 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

Ge 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:” Gen 3:1-4

Nu 21:5 And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.

Nu 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.

Nu 21:7 Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.

Nu 21:8 And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.

Nu 21:9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.” Numb 21:5-9

Several hundred years later:

II Kings 18:1-4 Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.

2ki 18:2 Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah.

2ki 18:3 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did.

2ki 18:4 He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brazen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.” II Kings 18:1-4

Just a brass thing?

tXxn N@chushtan (nekh-oosh-tawn'); Noun, Strong #: 5180

Nehushtan = "a thing of brass"

  1. name by which the brazen serpent made by Moses in the wilderness was worshipped in the time of king Hezekiah of Judah before he destroyed it

Following God's Word, Moses made the serpent of brass as a means to heal those bitten by the serpents to let them live. King Hezekiah destroyed Nehushtan because people had turned it into idol to worship. Have men made things today originally "very good" by God into idols of worship? Should they not similarly be destroyed?

God is slow to anger, but I don't want to anger him, I want to have him save me in a loving way. I see your point ;)
