20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. - Galatians 2:20.
"Yet not I, but Christ liveth in me."
You have no other life, Paul never says there is combination of lives here and we both live. We have malfunctions in our thinking about that life but it is one life and it is Christ as life. We were joined to the Lord but it is His life alive now, not a imitation of his life but "the life which I now live in the flesh." The main reason we have to learn Christ as our life from scripture is so you don't go around thinking your Jesus, your not Jesus. Most of the good Gurus and cult leaders have the notion that somehow they have a special call and have become Jesus Christ. They are bible scholars or at least have their favorite scriptures to lead with, and people will follow, amazing what the human mind can do and justify. I had a friend on the west coast that was a logger in Oregon. The Bhagwan Najneesh cult leader and his group lived not far from where he logged. He could see him pulling in and out in his stretch limo. They had to live in the woods so they could do their own thing and not be ridiculed. The human being is looking for something to complete their creation, Christ as life is the only completion for humanity. Those that come through extreme circumstances like a cult or something similar find that out.
20 But ye have not so learned Christ; - Ephesians 4:20.
You have Christ in you and he swallows up me. That's what mind renewal does for you, it allows you to give yourself to him who is your life and he swallows up my life and lives as I'm, my created expression. That should be Christianity 101 in our learning. What did our great Apostle say "you have not learned Christ." What does that mean? It means we need to learn Christ, and not just any Christ but the Christ in you.
So to hear a gospel that separates you (in mind only you cannot be separated in spirit as a believer) from Christ in you is a gospel that tells you that you still have a life of your own. To say there is certain things you need to do to be a good Christian is to preach a gospel that tells you that you still have a life of your own. We do what we do because we are Christian's not to be a Christian. I give my money because I want to, I witness because it is who I am, I will go and be a blessing because that is in my heart to do it, you pray for the sick and trust your father for healing because you know the healer is in you. It is not my ministry any longer but it is Christ in you that does the ministry or any other part of life you live.
On the job, in the home, being a parent, or reaching the lost. It is Christ that is the doer in us now. It is "I" the old me that nolonger lives but Christ that liveth in me.
21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. - Ephesians 4:21-25.
