1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. - Romans 8:1.

There is such a understanding in scripture we will call - fourth dimensional living. Walking after the Spirit! We could use another term called ..growing in grace and knowledge. Believers who love God and have stayed with it to grow, to try to learn and be taught of the Spirit. Learning the things of God, and coming to a depth in God where you see and understand Christ in you (yeah the deep things of God). After all, that is what the Spirit is teaching believers.Through it all they have grown in grace and knowledge. A Spirit teaching of; who they are! That is what revelation is referred to; Spirit taught knowledge!

What does that do to you, or for you? It keeps you - the understanding of who you are keeps you through it all. You may still have short comings and just a human being like everybody else but you know who you are - you are a knower, John 14:20. You have been taught by the Spirit, who you are! You have grown to understand that your life is hid with Christ in God, and no man can take away that position. You have in readiness to revenge all disobedience of your own mind!

6 and having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. - 2 Corinthians 10:6.

You may fall every day, and still have sin in your life but you are not defeated..your not beat down by life, and the cares of this world. Your desire is to be everything God created you to be in Christ, and take revenge on your own mind. You are no longer tricked by your own mind to say - oh that is just who I am God will understand, he is not done with me yet. No; you are following on to know the Lord! And not condemned as scripture says.

What do you do with that knowledge? When you are acting out and you know it isn't right, such as; treating someone wrong, and fighting with the neighbors, or some other thing that is just not right, and you know it is not obedient to who you are. You have the knowledge and the right to say! That is not me, because that is not you. Not the new man you are in Christ and your new identity. We can rightfully identity with Christ as our life ..and live and move and have our being - in Christ.

That is who we are now! We are joined to the Lord and that joining has given you a new and proper identity! Glory! You identify with Christ. All the old junk that is still in us - is not who we are. That is the residue of the old man if you will, but it is not who we are now. Not in Christ - old thing's have passed away, and behold all things are become new. It may take a life time for my mind to catch up with what has happened, but it does not change the fact you know something. That is what Spirit knowledge is; it is truth that can be depended on. You do not lean on your own understanding, but you trust the scriptures and what the Spirit has taught you from scripture.

Did you know your bible will condemn you. Especially if you do not know where to go to get your new knowledge to go with the new man. When you take all those theological treks through scripture, you will end up with some law based theory on life and living for God. And when you need to know who you are, and live by that understanding it will not be there. You will be condemned by your understanding of scripture. No condemnation in scripture is for the believer that has the knowledge that fits them as a born again Christian! Literal birthed child of God - by Christ in you the hope of glory!

Romans 8:1 is conditional- those in Christ who aren’t condemned are those who walk not after the flesh - (as in who don’t commit works of the flesh that Paul warns the brethren will keep them out of heaven)- but walk after the spirit.

The greek is not conditional.

But what is most interesting is the evidence that part B of Romans 8:1 was an transcription error when doing the original KJV. They took teh b part of verse 4 and also added it to verse 1. Knowing there is no divine condemnation left for teh children of God proves this hypothesis out! We are viewed as perfected, justified and glorified already by god through the blood of Jesus! The only condemnation now we have to deal with is from our flesh, th eworld and the devil and all these are our enemies!

KJV has many verses that they added commentary to, to make a passage more understandable, and many KJV bibles put those passages in italics so the reader knows which ones those are, and I’ve never seen where they were wrong in what they added - and since verse four makes it clear that having no condemnation is conditional on walking after the spirit and not after the flesh, they correctly added it to verse 1.

In walking after the flesh, other epistles Paul wrote make it clear that walking after the flesh means committing lusts of the flesh and works of the flesh, which is committing sins such as adultery, stealing, lying, drunkenness, etc:

In Galatians 5, Paul lists the works of the flesh, which in fact DEFINES what is meant in Romans 8 about walking after the flesh, instead of after the spirit:

Gal 5:16 ThisI say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Gal 5:18 But IF ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Gal 5:19 Now the WORKS OF THE FLESH are manifest, which are these;Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell YOU again, as I have also told youin time past, that they which DO such things shall NOT inherit the kingdom of God.

Therefore Romans 8 is clear that having no condemnation is conditional on living righteously as a believer and walking spiritually and not sinfully, after the flesh.

Romans 8 goes on to explain the consequences of death by letting our flesh win the conflict between our Spirit and flesh:

Rom 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

Rom 8:6 For to be carnally minded is DEATH, but to be spiritually minded is LIFE and peace.

Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is ENMITY against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Rom 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Romans 8:6, above, is talking about spiritual death - not physical death - as proven by the prodigal son, who died spiritually while he was out in the world sinning:

In the prodigal son story, the father represents God, the son represents believers.

He’s already a son when the story starts.

He leaves the father to live in sin

When he returns to the father in repentance, the father says: this is my son WHO WAS DEAD, but is now alive AGAIN, he WAS LOST, but now IS FOUND.

Luk 15:32 It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother *was dead*, and is *alive again*; and *was lost*, and *is found*.

He obviously wasn’t dead physically and resurrected.

How then was he dead?

He was dead in his sins.

Eph 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who WERE DEAD in *trespasses and sins*

Thus the son was alive, left his Father to live a sinful life, became DEAD in his sins, then returned in repentance, and became alive AGAIN.

Therefore Romans 8:6 contains a warning to the brethren not to live carnally, after the flesh, or they will die spiritually, as the prodigal Son did.

And Verse 8:7 of Romans warns us that believers having a carnal mind is ENMITY against God, meaning you actually become Gods ENEMY.

So does James:

Jas 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is ENMITY with God? whosoever therefore will be a FRIEND OF THE WORLD is the ENEMY of God.

The verse above says sexual sins and being worldly, makes you Gods ENEMY, and the verse that follows proves the Jas 4:4 warning above, is to believers, not the unsaved:

The next verse irrefutably proves that warnings against living a lifestyle of sexual sins is to the BRETHREN:

1Th 4:3 For this is the will of God, YOUR SANCTIFICATION: that you abstain from sexual immorality;

1Th 4:4 that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor,

1Th 4:5 not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God;

1Th 4:6 that no one transgress and wrong his BROTHER in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you beforehand and solemnly WARNED you.

1Th 4:7 For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness.

1Th 4:8 Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.

Our sanctification is to abstain from sexual immorality, verse 3, above.

We are expected and required as believers, to live the most sinless life we can, and to repent when we know we’ve sinned, and to walk in the spirit and not after the flesh.

Who gave them the authority to take part of verse four and put it into verse one where it was not in the manuscript ?? That is now writing theor own commentary and not translating the word of god.

And you are wrong about the conditionality of Romans 8:4 Part a of the verse is conditional (the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled) but Part B is not conditional but a statement of fact- we walk not after the flesh.

To walk here means to live as a lifestyle or to live in as a way of life. christians do not because the flesh has been crucified once for all tiem.
