Hello you and welcome. ~ Hope this information is of use to you some how!

Thank you all for who has been reading these, hope God and Jesus Christ are teaching you many great things and important lessons.

Hopefully this helps you understand something about Faith, and Hope.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the [a]substance of things hoped for, the [b]evidence of things not seen.

Lets look at the Greek word for faith: 4102 pístis (from 3982/peithô, "persuade, be persuaded") – properly, persuasion (be persuaded, come to trust); faith. Usage: faith, belief, trust, confidence; fidelity, faithfulness.

Faith (4102/pistis) is always a gift from God, and never something that can be produced by people. In short, 4102/pistis ("faith") for the believer is "God's divine persuasion" – and therefore distinct from human belief (confidence), yet involving it. The Lord continuously births faith in the yielded believer so they can know what He prefers, i.e. the persuasion of His will (1 Jn 5:4).

Okay so now we have the definition of Faith here in front of us. Looking at is present we can see that according to the way people understood faith in the past is that of a persuasion from the truth of God which is something hoped for, by having trust and confidence in what God promises to you as a believer.

What are some of the promises of God you may ask? According to the scriptures there are many of them. Going to give a few examples and if you feel inclined to look them up please feel free to do so.

The Promises that God provides freely are :

Relationship with God, and the Lord Jesus Christ; (Matthew 6:9-13)

Resurrection from the dead, Peace with God being justified by Faith, (Romans 5:1-5)

You have the right to an inheritance in partaking and sharing in God's Kingdom (Colossians 1:13-27) now by faith which would make you a Child of God (John 1:12), or Son or Daughter of God (Romans 8:1-15) if you walk by the spirit that is given,

You are promised that God will never leave you, or forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6, Matthew 14:27)

You are promised that you can have a prayerful relationship with God who loves and cares about everything going on in your life, and desires for you to cast your worries and burdens on Him, (Matthew 6:9-13; 1 Peter 5:7)

You are promised freedom of the bondage of sin (Romans 6:1-18), and
the ability to overcome ( 1 Corinthians 10:13) temptations when they are presented to you God will show you a way out,

You are promised to receive the holy spirit (John 14:26)

You are given a renewed mind and a renewed heart by God, (Romans 12:2, Ephesians 4:23, Ezekiel 36:26)
deliverance from darkness into light, (Colossians 1:13)

You are also forgiven of your sins: Past; present: future and have freedom of Christ in you but you are not to use that to Sin willfully but instead live by the spirit -> For when someone loves God they will turn their will towards Him rather than their own self-will to serve themselves (God can work on your heart through this) (Colossians 1:14; Hebrews 10:1-18)

You are promised if you live by the spirit to have kindness, joy, peace, love, gentleness, faithfulness. (Galatians 5:1-26)

There are all of the promises of God that can be named from just off the top of the holy spirit/spirit of Christ with-in me. You can freely look any of these up and hopefully you will find each of them.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the [a]substance of things hoped for, the [b]evidence of things not seen.

Lets look at hope for just a moment: 1679. elpizó : Cognate: 1679 elpízō (from 1680 /elpís, "hope") – to hope, actively waiting for God's fulfillment about the faith He has inbirted through the power of His love (cf. Gal 5:6 with Heb 11:1). See 1680 (elpis).

Okay so you got done looking at the promises of God now, and what Faith is which is something we trust in God through his persuasion of what the Lord Jesus Christ brings to the table.

Do you have hope in what is promised to you? Do you believe that those Promises are Real?

If you do, then All of those promises which are true, are what we place our hope in, that God will fulfill what he has promised to do, take care of, and handle.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the [a]substance of things hoped for, the [b]evidence of things not seen.

Cognate: 1650 élegxos (a masculine noun) – inner conviction focuses on God confirming His inbirthing of faith ("the internal persuasion from Him," see 4102 /pístis). See 1651 (elegxō).
As you can see here, - an inner conviction of focusing on God - confirming his promises that you have heard through the Lord Jesus Christ, and also through the writing of other letters and books of the bible that confirm promises, that confirm the evidences of God and his promises which were made so long ago, and how they build up your trust and faith in God.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the [a]substance of things hoped for, the [b]evidence of things not seen.

991 blépō – properly, to see, be observant (watchful). 991 (blépō) suggests "to see something physical, with spiritual results (perception)." That is, it carries what is seen into the non-physical (immaterial) realm so a person can take the needed action (respond, beware, be alert).

Lets take one more at this scripture looking at the things not seen, however through spiritual perception is what carries what is not seen which is seen by those who are born again.

It would suggest if you can't see something physical : All of Gods promises are made and you are indwelled by the holy spirit that you can not see due to your faith, belief and hope in God and his promises, in whom you trust.

You will not be able to see the spiritual side of things, but through faith and hope you have trust in God, and these spiritual things are carried out in a believers life.

I think true faith in God produces works of the Two greatest commandments Christ made, Worldly faith produces excuses not to honor them its that simple for me.

Thats mean spirited to say @Jay Ross. Are you doing okay today, sir?

Ah Matthew, the truth hurts when it is spoken. Taking in any rubbish is not healthy for the soul or the body as you well know.

And yes, I do sleep soundly and do not wake up bitter as you are suggesting.

Why do you use a false argument to rebut what I have posted as using a false argument only bolsters what I have posted.

May the Lord draw you further into His Loving Embrace so that you truly know His Love just for you.

Shalom

Why you always gotta be so mean or drab though @Jay Ross?

I was just trying to be friendly.

You can go post your theology on your own thread if you want, we havent spoken really in awhile.

Be encouraged to make your own threads about whatever you believe; i dont care.

Im glad you sleep well that is good.

All the best,
Matthew

So be it @MatthewG. Continue bolstering your false argument if you like.

If this conversation keeps going back and forth, it will only boost our score card of posts.

Thank you for you allowing me to have liberty in Christ, @Jay Ross.
Same sentiment goes to you friend, if anything it just helped people get a look at the original post, or just us two, only God knows.
You know how it goes when people post on post, it bumps it up to the top.

Here is the original post for anyone curious -> One of the first lessons put together, for the benefit of believers -> all glory to Yahava, and Yeshua.
God bless, and love you brother,

the word faith means belief/trust and the word hope biblically means expectation. if you believe and trust as Jesus says you expect what Jesus says.
Yes.. I would agree you here.

There are some scriptures concerning promises I believe that still applies in believers lives today, and some things in the bible concerning what Jesus promised, are concerning the very individuals who witness and was with the Lord, and converted to become saved from the wrath of God, and they were hated for the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and killed.

  • Matthew 5:3-12: The Beatitudes, where Jesus promises blessings for the poor in spirit, the mourners, the meek, the hungry and thirsty for righteousness, the merciful, the pure in heart, the peacemakers, and the persecuted.
  • Matthew 6:33: “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
  • Matthew 7:7-8: “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”
  • Matthew 10:32-33: “Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven.”
  • Matthew 11:28-30: “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
  • Matthew 16:24-27: “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? For the Son of Man will come with his angels in the glory of his Father and will judge all people according to their deeds.”
  • Matthew 18:19-20: “I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.”
  • Matthew 19:28-30: “Jesus replied, ‘I assure you that when the world is made new and the Son of Man sits upon his glorious throne, you who have been my followers will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life. But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then.’”
  • Matthew 24:30-31: “And then at last, the sign that the Son of Man is coming will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning among all the peoples of the earth. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send out his angels with the mighty blast of a trumpet, and they will gather his chosen ones from all over the world—from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven.”
  • Matthew 25:34: “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world.’”
  • Matthew 26:26-28: “As they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, ‘Take this and eat it, for this is my body.’ And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, ‘Each of you drink from it, for this is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many.’”
  • Matthew 28:18-20: “Jesus came and told his disciples, ‘I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’”
  • Mark 8:34-38: “Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, ‘If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.’”
  • Mark 9:23-24: "What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.” The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!”
if you believe and trust what anybody says, you have faith in them according to your expectations in what they say.
Only trust in Yahavah and his Word.
its not brain science or rocket surgery.
Amen!
if you trust the bridge won't collapse, you expect to be able to walk across that bridge safely.
It's all about understanding and peace, in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Yeshua, whom makes us right with Yahavah.
if you trust your tanks will win the battle, you will go into battle expecting your tanks to give you victory, if you trust the Lord God's Word that He is with you in battle, you will go into battle with the expectation of victory. but one should understand if He's with you in battle He will tell you so, and just because you know Him, doesn't mean your the judge of what battles you should fight.
Keep praying, and supplications going day in day out. Offering time in worship to the living God.

Still useful, may you be encouraged in what you may consider, look to and trust in God.
