Galatians 2:4 (NKJV)
………………….to spy out our liberty……. that they might bring us into bondage,

Galatians 5:1 (NKJV)
Stand fast therefore in the liberty……..and not entangled… with a yoke of bondage.

Galatians 5:13 (NKJV)
……. been called to liberty; only do not [use] liberty as an opportunity for the flesh…………

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This liberty that is being spoken of, the liberty that is so freeing that scripture warns against it being abused, moreover the loss of which scripture says brings on bondage, must be the liberty of liberties to be spoken of so highly…
Which it is, it being the liberty, the freedom, one experiences, tastes, feels, when one enters into the rest of God by faith and thereby ceasing from one’s own works… Which liberty, is a liberty of the state of life, meaning, it is a liberty that can ever be increasing, thereby the degree of bondage one is under is ever decreasing, henceforth the admonition to stand fast in this liberty, so this liberty might grow in the life as a real thing….
For this is the liberty that must be given great care, and great attention, for this liberty is the fruit of a rightly directed faith…
For a rightly directed faith is the faith of the heart towards God… For by default when one stops their trusting in God, self is the automatic inherit-er of own will, being, that its will can not help but be done, being, that a will is always being done all the time, the issue is, who’s will that is, faith will be living by His will, lack of faith in God will be living by one’s own will…
This is the liberty, the freedom in Christ that is strange, foreign, something not to be understood by the carnal mind… Henceforth does scripture warn about losing one’s liberty, one’s hope in faith, one’s joy in faith, one’s steadfastness in the faith… For all these losses are the fruit of one not trusting in God…
For freedom, liberty, joy, hope, security, peace and strength of mind, comes through one giving great heedance to one’s trusting in God, for faith breeds faith…. For just the opposite is true when one is not trusting in God, that being the doubts, the fears, the questioning of God’s love sets in, and the joy of one’s salvation is lost as the bondage sets in, as the liberty of life is lost, which can be rectified by the faith of the heart being rightly directed back to God once again… This time with a little more diligence, this diligence being that diligence that is in a ever increasing state….
The fruit being, righteousness is manifested in a ever increasing degree in the life….
Love 2 Corinthians 8:2-12 How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. [3] For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves; [4] Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. [5] And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God. [6] Insomuch that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also. [7] Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also. [8] I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love. [9] For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. [10] And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago. [11] Now therefore perform the doing of it ; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have. [12] For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.
Truth is put forth in scripture with many a figure, be blessed in seeing the underlying thread(s)…..
A fellow servant of His, Not me
your topic has me reading rahab again. The reason rahab stands out to me with your topic is because of: “she sent them out another way.” What “another way” did rahab send them out? I couldn’t remember and had to go back to the OT because to me “she sent them out another way”, another way being important. Do you have any input on rahab? I read where she lowered them down through a window and tied a scarlet line in the window?
also where they ‘spies’ or ‘messengers’?
by Faith rahab perishes not with them that believed not, when she received the spies with peace. (Hebrews 11:31)
likewise also was rehab the Harlot justified by works when she sent them out another way? The reason it is important (to me) is to be honest and I’m not saying it is right…but could it be “she sent them out another way” the way there being Christ? With your topic also when they come in tho spy out your Liberty, does the text imply the spies are shown another way from their own way? That Liberty is in Christ?
lastly rahab had faith with works when she “sent them out another way” (James 2:25-26) going on to say the body without the Spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. which helps with the ongoing debate that salvation comes without any change? Where all you have to do is say it and continue as you were?
Corinthians 8:2-12 How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. Hi, thanks for your thoughts, I have no insight into Rahab other than she was a foreigner who feared God and thereby received a blessing…
As far as you seeing something in the phrase, ‘sent them out another way’, it’s very possible God is teaching and bringing forth a truth couched therein… For God, as scripture says; ‘teaches with His eye on one’ meaning that He teaching is personalized to the believer…
Would be interested in learning what God reveals in you about the phrase…
Be blessed in your relationship and your learning from Him…
I think the word there for harlot basically means female inn-keeper.
A harlot is a prostitute. God used the same exact word when He referred to the OT Israelites' worship of false gods, and He used the same exact word to describe the false religious system in Rev. 17. The Greek word "porne" clearly doesn't refer to someone who was just an in-keeper.
