I heard something on Fox news the other day that just irked me to no end. A woman and mother was part of a panel discussing the concerns of the day and she made this statement: “I am willing to give up some of my personal liberties in order to feel safer!” I believe she said this regarding the TSA debacles but obviously, she had no idea that by making such a statement she was spitting in the eyes of our founding Fathers and all the veterans that have served in every war from the Revolution to modern day Afghanistan. This attitude only serves to belittle those who choose to put our personal liberties above their regard for their own personal safety.
The concept of “safety” is only an illusion fostered by those who seek to control and desire more power over the population of this nation. This is also one of the reasons why those who supported Bernie Sanders show an amazing lack of knowledge regarding our national history and what we, as a nation, stand for. Personal liberty is to reign supreme over any other kind of liberty out there. We the “sheeple” have let government take away our rights a little at a time, all in the name of “public safety”. Let’s get this one fact clear. The good of the public should NEVER override the individual freedoms of the law-abiding American citizen. It’s a very short, slippery slope from to Socialism to Communism.
I, for one, wish the TSA to be disbanded. We have become a generation of spineless, cowardly, weak-willed, fearful individuals; trusting in a corrupt political system run by the power hungry elites who actually believe they know what is best for us as a nation. Even our states, instead of seeking to live as independent from the federal government as we can, continuously suck on the teat of federal support. Most of us encourage our children to be self-motivated and independent, not running back to Mommy and Daddy every time things get a little rough but our example of state government overturns that advice as we seek to continue our dependence on the federal government. It used to be as a Republic, which we are, BTW we were never designed to be a democracy, we had our individual liberty followed by States rights and the federal government came last.
The Civil War was caused by one thing and that is, some states wanted to override the individual rights of others for their own profit. President Lincoln went to war with the South because he knew that the rights of the individual regardless of race, creed, color or religion was of tantamount importance to maintaining our union. We seem to have forgotten those lessons as our liberal-minded professors seek to change history in order to brain wash the proud ideal of individualism out of the minds of the younger generations wanting them to become more and more dependent on the government rather than teach them to depend on the one true God which our Founding Fathers glorified in most of our historical documents.
