1) Jesus vs the religious leaders

Luke 4: Good reports about Jesus spread throughout all the surrounding country. And he begins to teach in the synagogues and is held in honor by all.

- There it appears that everything starts well for Jesus.

- But it’s only the beginning!

- Jesus is going to be clear about his message!

- He is not here to tell people what they want to hear but God’s word!

- That’s why the religious leaders are going to oppose him right at the beginning!

- And this fight will go on till his death!

- He will never accept corruption of God’s word, no never!

This is much more persuasive to me than the suggestion that they wanted to kill him because they thought he was claiming to be God.

“This fight” is still going on today; nearly 20 centuries after his death and resurrection.

Do you agree with his enemies? Whom Jesus himself said didn’t understand him?

What is “a mere man”? Is “a mere man” different from “a man”? If so, how? In what way?

What do you understand the phrase “mere man” to mean?

I’m told that’s a sign of superior intellect.

Thanks. That’s helpful.

Is there a difference between “a little man” and “a man”? Are they synonymous terms to you?

Proposition: “a mere man” is “a man,” “a human person”.

jOB 25:6 How much less a mortal, who is but a maggot— a human being, who is only a worm in comparison to Almighty God!!!”

That’s also helpful.

God is not a mortal; not a human being; not a human person.

That sounds simple and straight forward to me; but is it something that we can agree on?

LOL!!! Good thinking!!

Good thinking or not, is it something that we can / do agree on?

It’s an important question. Most trinitarians I’ve spoken with say that it isn’t something they can agree with.

Answer =Go back and read my posts here tonight!!!

Done, per your request.

Here’s my request: Please read the following sentence and clarify for me if that is something which we are in agreement on.

God is not a mortal; not a human being; not a human person.

Jesus gave up so very much to live as a 100% man on earth and then ascended back to heaven =God the Son!!
Philippians 2 says, “He didn’t count equality with God a thing to be grasped but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, a slave.” Slaves have no rights, and Jesus became a slave for our sakes. He gave up the right to be with His Father.
