Mark 1:14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,

1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Jesus preached the gospel of the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God is comprised of the earthly and the heavenly kingdoms. The earthly kingdom is the prophetic Davidic kingdom promised Israel. Jesus will rule in Jerusalem as King, on the throne of David. Israel will be kings and priests, and reign with Christ in the kingdom. Israel will be a light to the Gentile nations that will enter the kingdom. Jesus, while naming it the kingdom of God is speaking of the earthly kingdom, called the kingdom of heaven in Matthew.

The heavenly kingdom is taught by Paul. The church, the body of Christ sits with Jesus in the heavenly places, not in the earthly Davidic kingdom from heaven.

Once again, it can clearly be seen that there is not just one gospel. Today in the dispensation of the grace of God, we are to believe Paul's gospel found in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.

There is no such thing as a dispensation of grace. The word for dispensation in the bible is made up of 2 words....(from oikonomia) oikos...which means household....and nomos...which means law.

Paul is the steward of God's grace to preach the gospel to the nations. So then the dispensation (stewardship) is for Paul and Paul alone. The dispensation of grace is only for Paul. He is the steward over what the Holy Spirit set him aside to do.

This idea of overthrowing the true gospel for a bad translation and interpretation of the word "dispensation" is a beginners error.

Hi Doug,

I agree, an important distinction to understand.

God is not offering us as Gentiles a chance to keep the Law in return for the Davidic Kingdom. Those who want to replace Israel with the church seem to overlook this.

Jesus came to Israel offering the kingdom. But when He was rejected, God gave, as episkopos has noted, a stewardship of God's grace as God ministers His grace to us.

Not an offer to bring us into the Mosaic Covenant. A better covenant in grace.

Much love!
