Matthew 5:1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
Matthew 5:2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

The above verses are Jesus speaking unto his disciples about the coming kingdom of heaven. The kingdom Jesus spoke of is the coming promised, Davidic kingdom on earth (Luke 1:32-33). This is the kingdom promised to the nation of Israel that believed on the Lord Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of God. Blessed are those who will enter the kingdom on earth, who will reign with Christ, their King.

The verses above and in fact Matthew chapters 5,6, and 7, the sermon on the mount, are directed to Israel not the body of Christ. They are teachings about the nature of the kingdom and those who will enter into it.

Matthew 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

The above verse seems to be saying that the disciples will be in heaven. Their reward is stored in heaven. It speaks to heaven as the origin, and repository of their reward. Their reward is reserved in heaven but received on earth.
